YES BUT
Photography IS an art form. Editing is a part of photography & that art form. Yin yang.
You have the photo that was captured in camera & the vision that the photographer saw in their head then was brought to life.
But what isn’t seen is the hours spent behind the scenes choosing how best we want to convey our message & the feeling in that moment through the image alone.
And the beauty is, each editing style & technique from start to finish is unique.
Everyone sees the yeses, just don’t forget about the buts.

All of my photos are edited on my iPad with Adobe Lightroom

I’m going to be honest here, I don’t think I’ve seen a female cardinal in person before this moment. Every cardinal I can remember seeing has been the classic all bright red male. Part of me almost likes the female coloring more with the smoke grey & the hints of red.

Wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself for the new people and since it’s been a while since I’ve done anything like this.

So hi I’m Meg! 👋🏼
I’m 28 years old and am located in Michigan. I have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, work as a night shift dispatcher and have 1 dog that has been an in house practice model for me a handful of times.🐶
While I photograph a little bit of everything or whatever happens to catch my eye, I tend to focus more on animal, wildlife and zoo photography. I’ve been practicing photography for probably about 8 years or so, give or take.
I’m self taught in both editing and photography, so I tend to know how to get the results I want majority of the time but might not know/remember all the technical terms still. I taught myself in the best way I knew how and that was by doing it. 📸
I recently upgraded from a D5600 that I used for years to my Z8 and am loving every minute with it. Also got my first Tamron lens! And guess what? I still overshoot every. Single. Time. I figure I’d rather have too many photos than not enough and have to worry about something going wrong or just completely missing a moment in general. Besides, I can always go back and delete photos for space if needed.
I use adobe Lightroom on my 2nd Gen iPad Pro to edit everything. Which actually works really great unless I’m editing for hours on end then it starts to get a little hot. But that’s probably an older iPad issue and besides that, I plan on continuing editing that way for as long as I can anyway. That also goes to show that you don’t need the fanciest gear or to follow what everyone else does, it’s whatever works best for you.👩🏻‍💻
For me photography is a way to escape for a while. No matter what else might be going on at the time it always seems to automatically shut down and almost cease to exist, (at least for a little while), when I’m taking pictures. Time becomes irrelevant. I also feel like it makes you just view things differently overall.
For those that have been here since the beginning and for those that are just joining, thank you and welcome! I’m looking forward to sharing more of my work with you! 🤠
