Happy Pride Month 🌈

I can’t fathom looking at photos like these and seeing anything but joy and love. Or wanting to expend one iota of energy dismantling their rights.

At a time when LGBTQ+ people are facing renewed attacks on their rights, identities, and safety, this feels worth saying clearly:

You are welcome here, safe here, and celebrated here. Always.

Claire and Joe were one of the lucky few couples who experienced a superbloom during their elopement in Death Valley National Park.

But we didn’t just stay amongst the flowers! We went all over the park, exploring one of their favorite places in the world. They got engaged on the salt flats of Badwater Basin, and that’s where they said their vows surrounded by immediate family.

✅ Low stress
✅ Lowkey
✅ Low elevation (the lowest, actually)

From wildflowers to snowy peaks to starry skies, they truly got the best of Death Valley for their elopement!

If you don’t have a trip planned already, consider visiting during the off season instead.

Here’s hoping the reservation system will come back someday 🥲

Getting to be the one who witnesses your elopement when no one else is there? It’s an honor every single time. I don’t take it for granted one bit!

A review that made me cry? Here you go:

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Steph is truly exceptional.

From the very beginning she listened to everything we hoped for. I told her I wanted photos where nature was the star and we were just these tiny magical humans inside it. The kind of images where someone would say “Wow look at that landscape I wonder who those people are” and I could proudly say “That is me and my wife.” She understood that vision immediately and brought it to life in the most beautiful way.

Steph does so much more than take photos. She helps plan. She helps with permits. She gives thoughtful recommendations. She scouts the area so everything feels effortless. Being around her feels like hanging out with a friend who just happens to capture the best photos of your life.

One moment I will never forget is her helping me climb up red rocks in my dress. I had a cathedral veil and a long train and I was determined to get that shot.

She supported us every step of the way and made it feel fun instead of stressful.

I am genuinely so happy she was our photographer. I am completely in love with our photos and I recommend her with my whole heart.”

TLDR; If you love a photographer’s work and you vibe with them, take a chance even if you don’t see your specific location in their portfolio!

I’ve been recommending this spot to couples for years. No one wanted it. And I get it, there’s sand dunes and salt flats and red rocks all over the place screaming for your attention with a much louder voice than this overlook.

It’s not the obvious choice for Death Valley but that’s kind of why I love it. You come here for the quiet, the scale, the feeling of standing above it all with the mountains stretching out in every direction. I couldn’t wait for someone to take a chance on it.

Enter: Alejandro and Janet! I was soooo thrilled they chose this spot for sunset after getting engaged earlier in the day.

What do you think? Would you choose to take photos here?
