Incoming SENIOR parents: I'm looking for two seniors for A Year in the Life series.

If I've learned anything this past year with the girls going all the separate directions, it's that the newborn stage feels like a lifetime compared to how fast year over year is accelerating by. I can only imagine what next year for Gemma's 8th grade year will feel like.

I've got big plans for when Gemma is a senior, but frankly, I need a few things for this next year, so this is where you all come in.

A Year in the Life is a session each season: so this project needs to kick off in this next month, and will have another session late summer, fall, and winter. They will range from full experience to shorter sessions (because none of us are going to want to do a full on session in a foot of snow).

We don't want to just document this season- we want to document it well. All the details that we don't want to forget about the first few weeks of motherhood matter now, and in the future. Have you gotten your baby on the calendar yet? I can't wait to snuggle your newest family member!

There's a reason every woman chooses to do a bo***ir session, but usually, the results far exceed expectations. Most do it for a gift for a significant other, while some are doing one for themselves. I've blogged about the "why" and the results- the "what" for a bo***ir session. The gorgeous lady in these pictures was a part of the latter- doing this for no one else but herself on a milestone birthday, and the results are stunning. Her shot list stretched my creative capabilities, but one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken is in the post- which one do you think it is?

What would make your photography experience a phenomenal one?

I'm always trying to level up for my clients, but it feels like I might be at a plateau. I'm open to hearing what would absolutely blow you away.

The photography industry very well may be in trouble with the advancement of AI. Every time you log in, a new profile picture is created with AI. It's here to stay. However, I've been SO MUCH more than just a session for almost six years now. I'm here to give my clients an experience, with artwork to enjoy for years to come. My hope is that HGP will continue to thrive despite the advances in this (admittedly) cool technology

My mom has said for as long as I can remember, happy baby, happy mama (no shade at you Nic). This session was almost two years ago, and I still remember how excited the girls were for their little sister and happy to be adding another one. We had SO MANY images from their session because they just went with the flow so well and loved on their sister so much. I've since photographed the youngest, and again- huge gallery filled with so much joy (and cake... and bubbles).

I'm so lucky to have families that find so much joy in the process of raising babies. You all make this job so fun and rewarding.

Many of you know that I'm a bo***ir photographer, almost as much as I am a newborn photographer (and let's be real- I've had more than a few clients do bo***ir and come back with their newborn). I'm really big on the transformation my clients experience during bo***ir. It's been called life changing more than once.

But what I don't talk about enough is the transformation into motherhood. Maybe you don't look at the pictures 20 years later and think about it that way, but these pictures signify the biggest transformation a woman will go through if she has children. It deserves captured. It deserves to be remembered. You deserve the newborn session you didn't even know you needed, but I promise, will cherish forever. Because between the sleepless nights, the endless doubting of yourself, and the mental load, a big transformation is occurring, and it's a beautiful one.
