For the second year in a row, and I are spending part of Semana Santa in the beautiful valley of Orosi in the province of Cartago. Today we made the short drive to visit the Ruins of Ujarrás, one of the most historic places in Costa Rica.

The church here dates back to the late 1500s and was once at the heart of one of the country’s earliest Spanish settlements. Dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Limpia Concepción del Rescate, it stood here for centuries before repeated flooding from the nearby Reventazón River forced the town to relocate to what is now Paraíso in 1833.

I’m so grateful to be back in Costa Rica this week making lovely memories and building beautiful traditions with Juan! Neither of us can explain exactly why, but there’s something so wonderful about Orosi and we both just feel so at home here.

Man, I can’t believe it’s been almost six years since Marcus Hopkins-Turner and I last shot together.

He’s one of my absolute favorite collaborators, and this afternoon felt like picking up right where we left off. We came in with a plan, caught up a bit, and spent the afternoon working through a handful of different lighting setups and looks.

Some sessions just click like that.

Actors who are willing to explore different looks always end up with the most interesting images, and Marcus brought a lot of range to this one.

We had a hard time narrowing these down, but here are just a few of the favorites from the session.

I’d love to know which one stands out to you!

POV: Me running a headshot booth at a conference.

Person walks up: “I hate having my picture taken.”

Two minutes later:

“Oh wait… I actually love that.”

It happens every time.

And it never gets old.

Be honest.

Is your headshot still from 2014?

No judgment. I’ve seen things.

But if your photo doesn’t match who you are now, that’s fixable.

Here are some of the most beautiful images I captured during my most recent trip to Costa Rica! Sunsets a gorgeous and all, but the last one is my favorite by far! :-)

PS if you visit Isla Venado, do yourself a favor and stay at ! As you can see in the first photo, it’s absolutely stunning there, and they provide such an amazing experience all around!

Not every portrait needs to smile.

Sometimes the goal is simple presence. A mood. Stillness.

Being on the other side of the camera (even when I’m just trying things out) is a reminder of how exposed it can feel to stand in front of it.

That’s why I focus on trust first. Everything else follows. Once trust is there, moments can move easily from upbeat and joyful to still and pensive, and everywhere in between.

The thing about branding imagery is this: it's all about perception, trust, and the way someone feels the moment they land on your profile. Before they read your headline. Before they scroll your website. Before they even know what you do.

Great branding images communicate three things instantly
I’m intentional.
I’m prepared.
I take myself and my work seriously.

That’s why in my branding sessions we take the time to talk about who you are, what you value, and what your goals are, so that everything is aligned with the feeling and the experience you want people to have when they meet you online.

Because when your visuals are polished and authentic, people don’t have to guess.
They already know they’re in good hands.

If you’ve been thinking about refreshing your branding imagery, or you’re ready to show up online with a presence that actually reflects your expertise, let’s talk. I’d love to help you create something that feels unmistakably you.
