Who stayed up to see the eclipse? 🌘

I didn’t even know it was happening—I just took Beau out to go potty, looked up, and caught it mid-eclipse!

As a photographer, that moment reminded me of what this is really all about. It’s about being the person who grabs their camera and runs out the door simply because you have to capture something. That is the true heart of photography.

Don't get me wrong—capturing your wedding days, your milestones, and your quiet memories matters immensely. That’s why photographers exist: to freeze those moments for you. But what starts as a passion should always hold onto that spirit, no matter how much money you can make doing it.

It starts as a hobby and has to stay rooted in that love, even while building a business and making a name for yourself. If you can’t grab your camera without thinking about a price tag attached to the shot, this path isn't for you. If you don't still feel that raw drive to run out the door just for the pure love of the craft... put the camera down.

AUGUST MEANS SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION 🚨

Posting this on Saturday because whether your county started last Monday, Wednesday, or is kicking off the FIRST FULL WEEK this coming week—the buses are officially back on the roads everywhere.

Let’s clear up a dangerous misconception once and for all: Stopping for a school bus stop arm is NOT optional. It is mandatory, strictly enforced, and non-negotiable.
Remember: that bus is carrying precious cargo. Every single seat is filled with someone’s child, grandchild, or sibling.
And yes—this includes school parking lots. Teachers, staff, and parents: working for the school or dropping off your own kids does not exempt you from the law. A bus stop arm extended on school grounds carries the exact same weight as one on a public road.

Here are a few life-saving rules to keep in mind as you head into the week:

🚫 DO NOT TAILGATE A BUS.
Bus drivers are legally required to stop, look, and listen at all railroad tracks. Large buses cannot stop on a dime, and if you follow too closely, a sudden stop means your car goes right under that high rear bumper. Give them space.

🚫 DO NOT PASS RECKLESSLY.
Trying to speed past a bus or blow through a stop sign just to "get ahead" of a route is pure impatience. Saving two minutes is never worth endangering a child.

🚸 KNOW WHEN TO STOP:
Two-Lane Roads & School Lots: BOTH directions MUST stop.
Multi-Lane Roads (No Median): BOTH directions MUST stop—even with a center turn lane.

🚸Divided Highways (Raised Barrier): Traffic behind the bus MUST stop. (Opposite traffic, proceed with extreme caution).
Yellow lights mean slow down. Red lights and extended stop arms mean STOP.

☕️No morning rush, meeting, or shortcut is worth a life. Leave a few minutes earlier on Monday, back off, put the phones down, and stop for the bus—every single time. 🛑
