I don’t think I’ll ever look at a woman’s body the same way again (It hits totally different when on this side VS giving birth!) 🤍
I’ve photographed so many beautiful moments throughout the years, but being invited into a room to document a woman bringing her baby into this world… that did something to me.
I watched her hurt. I watched her breathe through pain I can’t even put into words. I watched her become exhausted, dig deeper, and somehow find strength when it looked like there couldn’t possibly be any left.
And I just stood there behind my camera thinking… women are absolutely incredible.
Our bodies stretch. They change. They carry life. They labor. They break open in ways that are both physical and emotional… and then somehow, in the middle of all of it, they bring a whole human being into this world.
Then came that first cry.
The room changed.
The pain, the exhaustion, the hours of waiting — suddenly there was this tiny baby lying on her chest, and I watched a woman become a mother right in front of my lens. 🥹
There are moments as a photographer when you know you’re capturing more than a photograph. You’re preserving a piece of someone’s life that can never be recreated.
This was one of those moments.
Birth is raw. It isn’t perfectly posed or carefully planned. It’s tears and sweat and shaking hands. It’s vulnerability and strength existing in the exact same moment.
And somehow… it’s one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed.
I walked into that room as a photographer.
I walked out with an entirely new appreciation for women, for mothers, and for just how unbelievably powerful the female body truly is.
What an honor it was to be trusted with something so sacred. 🤍📸
