Two weeks in…two weeks ago we got married. Well, this Saturday will be two weeks but I felt like posting today. 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I still catch myself saying “my girlfriend, oh wait my wife!” And when I hear her say husband, it takes a while to sink in.
I’m sure these terms take adjustment for any married couple but for me…43 years of being a bachelor…these words are like a foreign language and speak to a new adventure that is unfolding daily.

Being a husband, friend, lover, step-father, etc. are new identities I’m learning to walk in. It’s fun, humbling, exciting and exhausting.

is the best partner I could’ve hoped for. She leans in to the madness with me and while we are only 2 weeks in and still learning so much about each other, being married to her is one of my greatest joys. I love her so much. 😍❤️

Today is a day of days. Today I become a husband and a step-father (we like the term bonus dad 😊).

There are too many thoughts and emotions to capture right now so I’ll spare you a book. I’m excited, nervous, humbled and honored to be entering into this next phase of life. will be my forever partner. She’s gonna be my WIFE! 😱.

We will love together, laugh together, drive each other crazy, not want to talk to each other, not want to not talk to each other, do each other’s laundry, clean each other’s dishes…all the things.

It all goes down tonight at 4:30 pm. What a day to celebrate.

There’s something about sitting around a campfire that settles my soul.

Not sure about you, but my mind will go 100 miles an hour, finding rabbit holes all over to dive into left and right. I worry, I stress, I try to peer as far off into the future as far as I can, or I go waaaay back into the past and dig up all sorts of buried treasure.

Times like this, around the fire, or out in nature fishing or hiking or doing anything outdoors helps quite those noises in my head. It’s calm and peaceful and is a respite for my soul. I soak in these moments when I can.

These times are all about presence in the moment. I think they also help me to be present in other areas of my life. That’s the hope anyway. And if not…well then I’ll just enjoy them as they are and let the crackles and the warmth and the good conversation wash over me.

What a journey this has been. After 43 years of life I’m happy to say…I’m engaged! 💍 Engaged to this amazing and beautiful women, aaand her three kiddos. Lol. It’s a package deal and I’m excited to get to do life with this crew. I moved from Denver to Minneapolis a little over a year ago after dating long distance for over a year. Let’s just say I was stubbornly single for a long time. You don’t become a 43 yr old bachelor without a little…let’s call it, perseverance. Rach broke through the rugged facade and stole my heart and hasn’t stopped. We’re ready to adventure through this world together!! All 5 of us! Rach, I’m so good it’s you.

The day after we got matching fly fishing tats we figured we should actually go fishing to really drive it home. Haha.

I’m grateful to share fishing with the love of my life. I’ve spent a lot of time standing in rivers by myself. Those times were always a joy but standing in a river with her blows them all out of the water. Pun intended. 😁

Frozen still…ice formations are something of a wonder to me. How can a moving liquid substance be transformed into a frozen mass, seemingly immovable and frozen in time? No scientific answers please…I understand the process. Haha. Yet, the product is a thing of wonder. It’s like real life magic.
There are moments in life that I’d like to freeze in time. The last days spent with my grandparents before they departed this earth, the first Christmas with my sisters first child, family vacations, date nights with , and so many other moments and memories. Not just the good one’s either. The gut wrenching ones that taught me valuable life lessons of who I did and didn’t want to be.
Maybe that’s why I love photography. The capturing of a moment and being able to freeze time with the push of button. It’s like my own form of magic.

Took a little trip to the boundary waters (bwca) this weekend. It was epic…-35 degrees the first night and 18” of fresh snow made for a memorable trip for sure. And yes, it was a camping trip.
Trips like this start out with you (read ‘me’) wondering why you do it and they end with all the great stories, sights seen and memories made which then turn into trip planning for the next one on the drive home. 😁 So the cycle continues…
