POV: trying to make content and immediately getting caught. šŸ˜‚

I like being behind the camera - not in front of it but here we are.

A lot of people know me as a photographer, but my 9-5 is actually working for my familyā€™s business , where we partner with interior designers.

We help bring the finishing touches to a space through custom framing, mirrors, artwork, printing, art reproduction, home accessories, and art consulting. Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Multifamily, Hospitality. We do it all.

My role sits somewhere between production and creative. I photograph artwork for reproduction, manage print production, help with framing design, and spend a lot of time around designers creating beautiful spaces. I also am in charge of our website and branding.

Every day Iā€™m surrounded by art, design, color, texture, and the little details that make a house feel finished.

Through Blank Studio, I get to bring some of that knowledge directly to artists, homeowners, and small businesses who may not have access to a designer but still want thoughtful finishing touches.

Itā€™s a random mix of photography, framing, printing, and design, but somehow it works.

And because no two days ever look the same, work rarely feels like work and it scratches the itch in my ADHD brain.

Pretty thankful this is the life God has given me. šŸ¤ Always all glory to God.

One of the things I love about design is that most people can walk into a room and have no idea what it took to make it feel the way it does.

In this space, every chair was upholstered in a custom fabric. Most people will never notice that detail, but thatā€™s kind of the beauty of great design. Itā€™s rarely one big thingā€¦.itā€™s hundreds of thoughtful choices working together.

I think thatā€™s probably why I picked up a camera in the first place.

Not because I was fascinated by photography itself. The technical side is boring to me. What I love is that a camera lets me preserve the little things that would otherwise go unnoticed.

In design, thatā€™s the fabric choice, the styling, the way light falls across a room.

In people, itā€™s the micro expressions, the way a child reaches for their momā€™s hand, the look between family members, the moments that tell you who someone really is.

Itā€™s also why when I cull photosā€¦I donā€™t only show my clients images that are technically perfect.

Not because I donā€™t care about quality, but because sometimes photographers are looking at sharpness, grain, and technical perfection while the client is looking at how an image makes them feel.

Sometimes the photo that means the most is the one that captures the feeling of a space. Or the laugh. Or the chaos. Or the connection.

The perfectly polished image isnā€™t always the one people come back to.

Maybe thatā€™s why I love photographing both people and interiors. The things we remember most are usually the little details everyone else almost missed.
