Two bombings. A 50-year-old mystery.

This week marks the 50-year anniversary to two car bomb explosions that killed six activists in Colorado's Chicano movement. Law enforcement investigated, but no one was ever charged. The official theory was that those who died blew themselves up. But friends and family always suspected foul play. Angelika Albaladejo and I dug deep into the lead-up to the deadly bombings and sat down with two activists who knew Los Seis.

Honored and humbled to be named a finalist for the nationwide National Press Photographers Association - Best of Photography competition.

I am one four finalists for Photojournalist of Year and my station is a finalist for Station of the Year as well. There’s a lot of talent out there, so just being on this short list of photographers across the country is incredible. Thanks to everyone who has taught me tricks and skills along the way. Honored to be among the talented winners announced for the nationwide Best of Photojournalism competition.

My entries for Breaking News and Live both managed to win second place. Both were part of my station's coverage of the Marshall Fire, the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history that destroyed over 1,000 homes in just a few hours. Russell Haythorn and I found ourselves in front of the fire line and reported for over 10 hours straight.
