There are micro wedding venues...and then there are places that make your wedding day feel like something out of a story. Juniper Lodge & Treehouses is the second one.

Tucked into the Colorado forest with treehouses, string lights, and the smell of pine everywhere, it is the kind of place that does a lot of the work for you. Alissa and Taylor got married here, and watching their day come together is exactly why I wanted to write about this venue.

E+Z are one of my 2027 wedding couples, and we just wrapped up their engagement session out in Summit County.💍

Their first date was in Georgetown, so being out in that part of Colorado felt like a really meaningful place to be. And since they do not have a lot of photos together as a couple, this session was really special for them, which honestly made it really special for me too.

They wanted something natural, joyful, and casual. Something relaxed and real. We had some wild weather earlier in the week, so we moved the session a day, and it paid off 100%. Loveland Pass delivered in every way.

One year ago, D+R got married before most of the world was even awake.🌄

They started their wedding day hiking through the dark with headlamps on, made it to the lake just as the mountains started turning pink, and spent the morning exploring together after saying their vows.

Looking back, I love how perfect it was for them. They knew they wanted an adventure, a beautiful place, and plenty of time to actually enjoy being together, so that's exactly what they planned.

And now it's been a whole year.🥹

Happy first anniversary, D+R! I hope married life has brought you just as many adventures, early mornings, and reasons to laugh together as that first day did.🫶

Planning a micro wedding should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Here are 10 tips to help you get there:

1. Sit down with your partner and figure out what actually matters most to you both before you do anything else.

2. Just because you saw it on Pinterest does not mean it belongs on your wedding day. If it does not feel like you or your partner, let it go.

3. Getting your photographer and key vendors locked in early takes a huge weight off your shoulders during wedding planning.

4. If you are planning a smaller celebration, some people in your life might have feelings about it. Share your plans openly and hold your ground with kindness.

5. You do not have to do this alone. Delegate smaller tasks to trusted people and let your partner be your biggest teammate.

6. Weather can change, reservations can fall through, things can shift. Having a backup plan means you can roll with whatever comes your way.

7. Mints, Tylenol, a hydration packet, a sewing kit, tissues, a stain pen, tweezers, etc. Just trust me on this one.

8. When everyone knows where to be and when, the day just flows better.

9. Venue research, vendor calls, cake tastings...you are doing all of this with your partner, so lean into it and actually enjoy the process.

10. The hobbies you loved before getting engaged still matter. Give yourself permission to take breaks.🫶

Make this your August of yes.

For me, that has meant yes to more paddleboard evenings. Yes to camping under the stars. Yes to a spontaneous concert at Red Rocks with an old friend. And yes to trivia nights that somehow stretch way longer than planned.

And I think that same instinct, that willingness to just go for it, is one worth holding onto.
