This week my family and I went to Yellowstone National Park. None of the four of us had ever been before, and we saw some of the most unique and amazing things. Surprisingly, we didn't see that many animals but all of the Geothermal features were putting on a show. Truitt and I kept scouting every feature we saw looking for the perfect Milky Way shot. Throw back to last weekend when Corey and I rode down to the Great Sand Dunes to shoot the Milky Way and test out his new suspension on Medano Pass. The colors were pretty amazing and the sky did some pretty incredible things. And then the clouds blew away and let us shoot the Milky Way. God’s beauty always amazes me.

We made a quick trip a couple weekends ago to see the Milky Way through the Mushroom Rocks in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

I think I will try to shoot the Milk from Lake Irene this weekend. I have seen a lot of great photos from there so I assume there is already a tripod setup and ready to go. 🤣

Just getting back to a few photos I took while in Ouray, CO over the 4th of July weekend. Columbines at the tip top of Corkscrew pass, and a few of the fireworks that we saw from the amazing show in Ouray. Also, repost of the Milky Way from Beer Creek Falls overlook.

Red Mountain Pass on the Million Dollar Highway shot from Bear Creek Falls, Ouray, CO.

Sunday night, after the fireworks show in Ouray, we had to wait our turn to go back up the pass to our camp in Ironton. While we were sitting there I realized I could see the Milky Way right there in town!

We got back to camp, I grabbed my equipment and drove back down to the Bear Creek Falls overlook. It was pretty windy, super dark, and there was some animal noises (probably all in my head), but I was able to gather this shot.

If you haven’t had a chance to enjoy the stars in the San Juan Mountains, I highly recommend it.

Lake Powell on the Water.

Water was extremely low this year and quite dangerous to not at night not know if we would hit a rock in the water. So I was unable to get what I planned. So I made this composite instead. Maybe I’ll have better luck next year.

I was able to get other shots that can be seen in my feed, just not what I wanted.

We went up to Mount Evans last night to shoot the Milky Way. I wish I had brought my light saber to fight off all the moths. Most people are nervous about the road at night but it’s the moths that I can’t stand. 🤣

I was also a lot of smoke from Utah, I hope 2020 fires don’t repeat themselves.
