I once heard a photographer say that she doesn’t like her clients to snack during sessions. As a photographer, I understand that chewing on camera is not always the most flattering of photos - but as a mother, I understand that snacks are life. Here’s to chowing down and literally savoring a little slice of life, and maybe an orange slice too! 🍊

This endearing newborn session didn’t begin with quite this in mind; instead it was a maternity session that turned quickly into this little lady having her own timeline for her big entrance earthside. I love a little gal who lives for a bit of *drama* 😉 Luckily she’s also been given the best parents for her early arrival who were a dream to photograph as they soaked up these days at finally back at home with her. 🥰

I often find myself preying on nostalgia as something that I can advertise, package, and eventually commodify. Using analog in my sessions in the form of film photography and Super 8 home movies has ushered in a whole lot of us that are drawn to the instant hit of nostalgia these images provide. And it’s got me thinking; what is nostalgia? Where does it show up for us? Is it a curse… or is it a sign?
