These clients had all 4 of their babies with me as their birth photographer. They are done now. The last baby was 10lbs 2oz! All of her labors were with the same midwifery team, and even the same doula for 3 out of 4 births.

Working in dark and difficult lighting situations is part of the work a birth photographer does. Sometimes you just have to embrace the grain (although, Lightroom’s denoise does a really great job).

We can’t wait to see your images this week!

This was a video client who had a super fast birth. It took her a minute to be able to reach down and pick up her baby. After videoing the moment for 10+ seconds after birth, I was able to snag a quick photo of this sweet baby before she was pulled up to mom’s chest.

Birth is a sacred experience, and sometimes newer birth photographers either forget (or don’t know) how to act. Listening, watching, observing...it’s a HUGE part of what we do. I love listening to as many birth stories and birth podcasts as possible. I love learning about high risk births and low risk births. I love gaining knowledge so that I’m comfortable, confident, and prepared for whatever comes my way in the birth space. Join us on the blog as we share 3 Must-Knows About Birth Photography.
