I’ve been going down to Louisiana 2x a year for 2 years now and this year makes my 3rd. Everytime I go I learn something, see something and feel something different. Every trip is different. Sometimes it’s to really soak in the beauty and relax while photographing the area. Other times it’s to learn about the conservation efforts of the area of the Atchafalaya River Basin.
I’m going back this fall and taking someone with me—I’m super excited to see this river through her work…the anticipation of it😍. Something I haven’t done is photograph the river from the inner banks. In the fall and winter, it’s easy to do this because the water is low. This will be one of the things I’ll be working on. Seeing the plant and tree life from more of the interior. Now, I have a few projects I’ll be working on and I hope to display in the future.
If you are curious and want to learn more about the Atchafalaya Basin, here is a start. Go to the Basin Keepers and read up on how Atchafalaya Basinkeeper work hard on Conservation and protections of these beautiful wild places.
