I’ve been going down to Louisiana 2x a year for 2 years now and this year makes my 3rd. Everytime I go I learn something, see something and feel something different. Every trip is different. Sometimes it’s to really soak in the beauty and relax while photographing the area. Other times it’s to learn about the conservation efforts of the area of the Atchafalaya River Basin.

I’m going back this fall and taking someone with me—I’m super excited to see this river through her work…the anticipation of it😍. Something I haven’t done is photograph the river from the inner banks. In the fall and winter, it’s easy to do this because the water is low. This will be one of the things I’ll be working on. Seeing the plant and tree life from more of the interior. Now, I have a few projects I’ll be working on and I hope to display in the future.
If you are curious and want to learn more about the Atchafalaya Basin, here is a start. Go to the Basin Keepers and read up on how Atchafalaya Basinkeeper work hard on Conservation and protections of these beautiful wild places.

March 2026. I spent some time in the concrete jungle, at city parks too. Wildly out of my comfort zone, I went to museums, on the subway, on rivers, ate great food, drank good coffee and immersed myself in what NYC had to offer. But I miss getting lost in back roads, brake slamming for photo ops, clearing my mind, feeling nature engulf me and experimenting in the wild.
It might be awhile. Gas is something to consider for the first time in a long time. So it’s time for short trips, digging into the vault, start a project and finish up old ones.

I’ve been obsessed with this Monet for a very long time. I had to wait to take this. I didn’t want to leave so II waited for a bench to continue to get a glimpse through the layers of people who filed in. I’ve balked through the years of buying reproductions until I see the original. Now I can do that. I love Photography; but I wish I could paint most of all.
