I remember in our initial consult call Carly said “I know we’re not your typical type of couple, we’re not really looking to adventure, we just want to have a special experience with our families”

And that moment really stuck with me, because it reminded me that every couple has different priorities for their experience and vibes that they’re looking for. And for Becca and I, more than anything, we’re looking for couples that care about their wedding experience and are looking for help to build it with intention, whether that’s on top of a mountain, or something completely different.

C&R did just that. They had 18 people in total, and you could tell how much effort they put into ensuring that each of their guests felt welcomed and intentionally invited into the experience. No one had to lift a finger, between us and the Estate House staff, everything was taken care of, so they could all relax and enjoy one another’s company.

Above all else, what I remember most about their day, was how dedicated they were to their families, and ensuring that their people were fully documented as much of themselves. They didn’t want to be the center of attention, but wanted the full experience captured and celebrated, with their guests sharing the main character energy as much as them.

Hopefully their day serves as a reminder that Becca and I are here to help plan YOUR best day, whatever that looks like. And we’re also here to make sure your families and people are part of the experience too, if that is important to you! We’re all about community, personalization, and authenticity here at Trail Magic, and when I look back at C&R’s gallery, that’s what I see. Hopefully you can see and feel it too ✨🤍

More summer beauty to share! This time, Megan and Sean’s stunning late July wildflower elopement in Colorado 🤍🌸✨

This was such a special evening, we had what felt like the whole mountain to ourselves getting to soak in the views, and there were wildflowers budding everywhere the eye could see. M&S got ready together, Sean even learned how to use the crochet hook to get all the little buttons sorted out! It was so cute!

They then shared their vows to each other privately, and as a celebration, spent the rest of the evening enjoying the incredible picnic setup that Becca made for them! It was such a simple, yet beautiful day full of intention and laughter.

M&S thank you for putting your trust in us for this experience! You have such a beautiful love, and I know we’ll never forget how fun and stunning that evening was! Grateful to call you both good friends now 🥹🤍

A sunset experience deep in Colorado’s high alpine with Kyra and Andrew last August ✨

It may be a crime that I haven’t shared many of these images, but with summer just around the corner now I can’t hold back any longer. These two are a testament to elopements being adventurous, beautiful, and actually super simple/stress free. No extra frills, just each other, the mountains, a beautiful lake side ceremony, kayaks, and trader joes coffee cake for dessert!

I know there’s a lot of stuff on the internet about eloping, and even times when a grand plan is the perfect vibe, but this is your reminder that there’s still time to get married in a stunning place, just the two of you, and a yummy coffee cake this summer ✨🤍

We’ve been having a lot of sweet conversations with couples looking to get married in Summer and Fall this year, and thought sharing some tips about planning events on a short timeframe would be helpful to all the couples out there thinking about getting married this year!

While there is still time to plan, there are factors that get more complicated the closer your wedding date is, so it’s always best to consult with experts and stay open-minded!

If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and could use some help, Becca and I still have limited 2026 availability for elopements and micro weddings, and would love to help! The calendar is booking up quick, but I’ll share our updated availability on stories and would be so excited to hear from you! ✨

It may be January, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start planning your summer elopement on Colorado!

As a local elopement photographer and planning team, we find summer to be the best season for elopements here in CO. Here’s why:

Amazing weather - unlike other regions of the US, the mountains of Colorado are perfect in July and August! Mild daytime temps and cool evenings with lots of sunshine without being overly hot and sweaty.

Trail and road accessibility- summer means the snow is finally gone! Summer is the best and only time that all trails and 4x4 roads are accesible for travelers. This is a great season to drive epic roads and get to the most remote spots without having to hike.

Water access - some of the best parts of colorado have lush greenery and full lakes and waterfalls all throughout summer.

Wildflowers- if you’re looking for magic, look no further than wildflower season in the high alpine! These beautiful blooms peak in late July and early August!

If you can’t decide between eloping and having an intimate wedding with your closest people, then A&R’s split-day experience is perfect inspiration for you!

They came to us last February unsure of exactly what they were wanting, but hoping to craft an experience that prioritized nature, stunning mountain views, as well as their close family and friends who they couldn’t imagine this experience without (including A’s young daughter!)

When talking through ideas about packages, the idea of having the morning together to hike for private vows, stuck out to them as a way to spend quality time just the two of them, so that’s what we did!

On the day of their wedding, A&R and Hannah met up at a trailhead with a breakfast picnic packed by Becca, and they headed up to share their vows as the sun rose. It was a beautiful, quiet, and peaceful way to start the morning before heading into a day full of family, friends, sunshine, rain, and everything in between!

Splitting the day ended up being the perfect way for A&R to spend their day without any compromise. They had plenty of photo coverage time to capture every detail from stunning landscapes during sunrise and portraits together, to little candid moments between guests during cocktail hour and beyond. They also got to spend quality time with each other, and all of their guests without feeling rushed at all.

A&R, thank you for letting us witness your sweet family and joy on such a beautiful day in the mountains. ✨🤍 It is day we will never ever forget, and for that, we are grateful.

Building.

You’ve carefully curated your guest list, every person invited with intention.

Now curating your experience? Think of it as the same concept. You are building your micro-wedding, one block at a time. Each vendor, the venue, each piece of decor selected specifically in alignment with your vision.

Many couples come to us seeking a micro-wedding as a means to cut back costs compared to a traditional day. And sure, it’s much easier to keep the budget lower when the guest count is small. But, it’s also important to know that halving your guest list does not inherently halve your budget.

So what do we recommend? Starting at the beginning- with your vision. Invest in your priorities first, and the rest will fall into place.

It’s a small, charming town tucked into the mountains near Gunnison and White River National Forest, and has so much to offer! From lots of yummy places to eat, to all the outdoor activities you could ever want, Crested Butte is the perfect place to celebrate your adventurous summer elopement.

And, the best part?!
Wildflowers! 🪻🌼

Crested Butte is the wildflower capital of Colorado, with countless trails and meadows blooming between July and August with lupines, indian paintbrushes, columbines, and so many other native species. It’s hard to beat this area if wildflowers are at the top of your priorities for your elopement.
