I know you’re very sick of hearing me say this, but ALASKA I am booking family minis for July! I’ve got one more full session (in home, outdoor, or hybrid) and a few minis open for July 18th, outdoors.

Why do I have to keep saying this? Because social media has made my reach almost nonexistent. If you can’t book, could you share so I can reach more folks?

Why “lifestyle” photography? Because of this. Stiff uncomfortable smiles are not what your kids want to see when they’re grown. They want to see you LAUGH. They want to see the joy you had on your face when they made you smile when they were little. Give them something real.

Why do we schedule newborn sessions 1-2 weeks after baby is born? Because of this. This is the sweet (very) short season of a sleepy milk drunk babe, haha. Sleepy baby = a relaxed photoshoot. If this is your first baby, you aren’t aware of it yet, but they’re going to change so quickly. The first couple of weeks with them being here you’re in a sweet little bubble of staring at them and getting to know every little detail of them. I’m rambling, but it’s just a lovely season to have documented. If you’re choosing an in home newborn session, even better. You don’t have to leave your bubble at all!

Okay, but showing up to your home to see my pictures blown up on your wall? Kind of the best feeling (selfishly), haha. But seriously, PRINT YOUR PICTURES OMG. Please treat every photoshoot like those pictures could just miraculously disappear from your computer/hard drive/phone at any moment, because in all honesty? They could. Your kids won’t want to have to swipe through hard drives to try to find the pictures you’ve had taken of them. Just print them! I promise it’s worth the effort.

When should you book your newborn session? This varies from photographer to photographer but for ME, I say once you’ve hit the second trimester. I’m going to be very honest here, I HATE when I get emails from clients who want to book a newborn session and then I ask, “Okay! When is your due date?”. “Oh, they were born last week!.” Nooooooooo. Most photographers are booked out months in advance. The odds of me being able to get a newborn session squeezed in within days of you contacting me are slim to none. It’s not because I don’t WANT to, it’s just because I have other sessions/travel scheduled already. In an ideal situation, you’ve started searching for your newborn photographer towards the end of your first trimester and then you’ve reached out to them within a few weeks of entering your second trimester. This way you can get a deposit down to secure your due date and then we can plan to expect to hear from you within x amount of weeks of x month.

If you’re working with me, once baby is here then you’ll contact me and we can get a date set! Generally newborn sessions take place around 1-2 weeks after baby is born, but with in home/lifestyle newborn sessions, you can push it to 3-4 weeks if needed. Planning ahead also gives you time to break down your payment into smaller payments. My clients have the option of going into their invoice and paying $50+ anytime they’d like. Take advantage of that!

If you book a session with me, you’re going to get a lot of photos like this in your gallery. I call these the “in between” and they’re my absolute FAVORITE. I love photographing the way those little hands hold onto you and how your hands hold onto them. I really love the details of human connection and these types of photos really document that for me.

Alaska! I’ve still got availability for July! I’m only up there for a week and won’t be back until October, so this is your one and only chance to work with me when it’s green outside! If you book a full session you can also make it a hybrid, so we do indoors and outdoors. Mini sessions are being held July 18th and they’re a great way to get some cute family photos with your wild toddlers before they have a meltdown..just sayin’.

Psssssst! I’ve still got a full family session open for when I visit in July! What’s fun about booking a full session is you can also opt to do a HYBRID session. What’s that? You get to enjoy indoors AND outdoors. Most folks book a hybrid if they’ve got an epic backyard, farm, or have a space nearby we can go adventure. These are honestly my favorite because they’re the best of both worlds. We start inside and then go out after! Link to book is in my bio! 👆🏼
