At just after 8 PM, units from Derby Fire Department, Sedgwick County Fire District 1, and Mulvane Fire Rescue were dispatched to a structure fire at 830 N Ridgecrest at Tanglewood Elementary School.

Engine 81 had nothing showing on arrival; Engine 81 & Truck 81 investigated inside, with a haze of smoke that got stronger near the kitchen.

A situation under control was given a short time later.
"There is no damage to Tanglewood’s kitchen or cafeteria, and school will be in session as scheduled on Tuesday.

Similar to the situation at Derby Hills Elementary last week, the smoke was related to an issue with a grease/water separator. While there is a lingering smoke odor in portions of the building, air scrubbers will be used to clear the smell and ensure the building is ready for students and staff to return on Tuesday. As a precaution, all grease/water separators have been turned off at all schools."
