Most couples walk into the Ruins and let the room take over.
Gold mirrors, painted walls, a chandelier that knows it’s the chandelier. The instinct is to shrink a little. To pose harder. To try to match the room.
Andrea and Jeff did the opposite. They got quieter. He kept finding her jaw with his hand. She kept looking at him like he was the only thing in there worth looking at. The piano was just where they happened to be sitting.
If you’re early in planning and worried you’re not “photogenic enough” for the venue you actually want, here’s the thing nobody tells you.
Photogenic isn’t a trait. It’s what happens when you stop performing and the person behind the camera knows how to wait for it.
The right room helps. The right photographer helps more. Mostly it’s just the two of you, deciding to stop trying so hard.
Save this for later if it’s still early.
