I normally don't post on Facebook, but I couldn't resist sharing a few more of Gemma and Phil into the world.
It takes only a brief encounter with Gemma and Phil to quickly learn they’re special. Gemma, other than being the subject of a Renaissance painting, is brilliant and bubbly. Phil is sharp and hilarious, but in a way many (myself included) aren’t smart enough to appreciate half the time because his deep fountain of knowledge and pop-culture references. They communicate in their own language of references and puns and inside jokes, and while I only picked up on 20% of them, I felt compelled to smile and laugh 100% of the time I was with them.
Their wedding was truly a celebration of them and their love in a way that touched my little theater-kid heart. From the hand-made neon arches Phil crafted from wood he cut down on his grandmother’s property to the incredible wedding program designed by Gemma’s long-time internet friend who she met for the first time after saying “I do”, I was left feeling overwhelmed by all the special touches.
To say I am grateful that I had the absolute privilege to spend their wedding day with them and their loved ones is an understatement. This is a wedding—and more importantly a love—that will stay with me for a very, very long time. Much love to the couple that opened their hearts (and their home) to me. I look forward to visits filled with pastries, cocktails, and recommendations for movies I would otherwise never have heard of.
A special shoutout to the The Englert Theater Iowa City for being THE most gracious hosts, and David Zabner and Emily Ledger for bringing these lovely humans into my life ❤️
