The big feelings, little milestones, intimate details, and core memories. And my little window into it all. Parenthood is a ride. Friendship is a privilege. This Trans* Day of Visibility, I am reminded what a privilege it is to see (and capture) good humans for who they are. The level of trust to be let in on the most intimate moments, spaces, and identities is not something I take lightly. The unbridled joy I get to witness when my clients get to be authentically themselves around their loved ones is a wonder to behold. And to bottle up a little taste of that Trans joy and share it with the world is my distinct honor.

As the author John Green put it, “that’s a calling to me — to present more light, and to better witness the light of others.”

Especially now, especially in Iowa, Happy , friends. It’s a privilege to see you. 🫶🏻🤍🏳️‍⚧️

So the number of photos I have of these two is probably north of 50K (really, that’s my real estimate) but in my defense look how cute they are, plus I have an actual photo studio and am a professional photographer. You probably don’t need 50K of them, but if you’re not a professional photographer with a studio, I’ll bet you could use at least a few more photos. Kicking myself for never having offered Mother’s Day Mini Sessions before bc now that I’m a dad I FULLY UNDERSTAND why folks always wax about the days are long but the years are fast (or whatever). So here, finally, is my celebration of y’all moms for everything you do, as if a dreamy portrait session could even begin to cover it. There’s a lot of moments in motherhood, and there’s no better one to bottle up than this one right now.
