Hot take: the best time to book your August beach session is not August. 🌊

It's July. Right now. While the dates still exist and I'm not staring at a completely full calendar, wondering how to clone myself.

August is my busiest month every single year because everyone wants those last summer photos before school starts, and everyone waits until the last possible second to book them.

Something I love about shooting all along the Emerald Coast is that every location has its own personality. 📍🌊

Destin gives you that dramatic emerald water color and the classic Panhandle beach feel. Grayton and 30A have a wilder, more natural coastline vibe. Navarre is wide, open, and consistently beautiful. Fort Walton has that sound-side charm that's completely different from anything else on the coast.

When you book with me, I help you figure out which location actually fits your family. Where you're staying, what kind of photos you want, and what's going to give you the best light for your specific date.

Can we talk about Grayton Beach for a second? Because I feel like it doesn't get enough credit. 🌊✨

While everyone's fighting for parking in Destin, Grayton Beach State Park is sitting quietly on 30A being absolutely stunning and significantly less crowded. The water color is different here, more variation, more texture, more of that wild Florida coastline feel that you don't get on the more developed stretches.

It's also one of the few spots where the dunes and the vegetation give you a completely different backdrop than a typical open beach session. If you want photos that look like the Emerald Coast but don't look like every other Emerald Coast session you've seen, Grayton is your answer. (It's also my personal favorite area 😊)

This is the part of my job that I genuinely cannot put a price on. Watching families come back year after year and seeing how much has changed in twelve months, it gets me every single time. It also reminds me how much I've grown as a photographer, and how fortunate I am that this is my job!

Navarre is criminally underrated by the way. The pier, the water, the light, etc. It's absolutely unmatched no matter what the weather is doing.

Birthdays. Anniversaries. Gifts for someone you love. Or simply “it’s been too long and we need new photos.” 📸🌊 No reason is too big or small for family photos on the beautiful Emerald Coast.

Pretty much any photographer will tell you the best part about their job is knowing you’re capturing a special moment for these families. It’s genuinely my favorite part about what I do and why I ask these questions as a part of my session intake, because I want to celebrate with you!! 🥰

The driving, the gas, the late nights, the long editing hours, everything is worth it. And getting feedback like “we absolutely LOVE our photos” is how I know I’m doing what the Lord has called me to do. Not because I’m an expert photographer, but because I care so deeply about my job and the people I get to meet.

That’s why I show up to the beach every evening EXCITED to see these families. That’s why I care so much about getting it right.

Busy season or not, today we remember and celebrate. 🎆🇺🇸

Happy 4th of July from your Emerald Coast photographer who is taking a rare day off to be present and grateful!

This was my view last night in Miramar Beach. Moments like that remind me why I love living and working in this little corner of the world so much. God is good. 🙏🌊

One thing I've learned about my business is to be more intentional with my time. I've done the whole 3 sessions back to back on the same day thing, and for me personally, it's exhausting.

I love getting that one-on-one time with a family before the session, getting to know their kids, where they are traveling from, how long they'll be at the beach, etc. I truly think it sets the tone for the entire evening, and I always try to make it a good one.

For some families, it's a once-in-a-lifetime trip. For some, it's a yearly family vacation. But whether it's your first time ever or you're an annual visitor, the family photos are worth it every time.
