First time shooting the Milky Way. Planned this night for a few weeks. Luckily the weather cooperated. Finding a spot free from light pollution was a real challenge!
Thanks to my husband who came out with me. Was 20 degrees and we were out for a few hours.
Happy that I captured the MW. Eventually I’ll work on composition and stacking.
I’m hooked!

I went out practicing again in the driveway in Grayling.
Probably should have just gone somewhere better to shoot.
The 66% moon threw me off.
Go? Not go?
So many mistakes made!!
Probably better I didn’t invest a lot of time.
✅ Not one RAW photo.
✅ Didn’t have my phone, so see where I was shooting.
✅ No intervalometer.
✅ Egg shaped stars
Was nice to be under the night sky regardless.
Going to try again, with the upcoming new moon.

What is this you ask? Such a lack luster photo?
Cloudy day in Michigan is perfect for photo planning!
We scouted some areas for my first Milky Way photos.
I love that these photos have the GPS location and I can easily find them again.
Super excited to use what I’ve learned from so far and to get my single shot!
We still need to explore more of the bortle level 2 area not too far from us. I think I’ll be shooting into a level 2 from the areas we scouted, so we’ll see!

Saw this at my doctor’s office yesterday.📷

Just finished Milky Way Photo Intensive and all I can say is WOW. I learned so much.
I can’t wait to put what I learned to use.
Looking back, I see SO many mistakes I made in my night sky photography and editing, I.e. blue skies!
This photo was shot before I took Kristine’s class but I did use some of her editing techniques.

I’m always fascinated by what my camera picks up. Things I don’t see. Even the light pollution.
Really excited to start having more clear skies here soon!
