Have you heard of the sacred geese of the Capitoline? You know that geese are employed to sound the alarm to potential predators. There are even prisons that utilize geese to alert security guards to escaped convicts. And geese saved Romans from a Gallic attack in 390 BCE. I wrote a quick 3 minute read on the geese that saved Rome. It somehow took a macabre turn foreshadowing our ultimate doom given our disconnection from the natural world, but maybe it's good to think about these things? I’ve seen a local arboristadvertising pruning fruit trees right now, saying this is the time.

Folks, this is NOT the time to trim fruit trees. They are about to go dormant and will not have sufficient time to recover. July and August are OK for pruning some varieties, and you can start as early in winter as January (I prefer February) through March.

This is not a poem but -
I've been working on speaking.
I have silenced my voice,
kept her demure.
But sometimes -
She rages, screams,
And scares me so
I think she might burn it all to the ground.
Maybe those she loves will be spared, but
maybe not.
That's the scary part of feeling
the power from the stars.
So I've tamed her to be quite nice,
A lioness who has forgotten
Her prowess and
her roar.
