Media Ministry as a church ministry I believe can be some of the most stressful work to get right. You often get one shot to reach millions of souls. So how do you get it right the first time? Preparation. I believe recently our team has grown is skills, talents, wisdom and much more under the leadership of our sister Carolina because of staying plugged in to one another. We all live different lives and learn so much individually on a weekly basis that when we bring it back to the team every Sunday we all grow together collectively.

We decided to bring back our pre service meetings for the simple fact of unity, but what we got in return was so much more. Knowledge and understanding passed around. Experiences helping each other grow in our understanding. However most of all the gift of tackling an assignment TOGETHER. If you aren’t doing pre service meetings for your church I really would advise you to start. Hope this sharpens in Jesus name 🙏

Yesterday we used the meta glasses Gen 3 for the first time on set and needless to say they came in handy! A lot of times on set your hands are completely full and you can’t really stop to film camera bts so we help this helps you see about 25% of our process yesterday to a 4 hour shoot

Frames for SANTO FISH RESTAURANT

This shoot was a combination of shots from May! We just never got around to posting it but here they are. Often times I notice when tossing footage out you leave the oppurtunity to use shots you didn’t use before and make a whole new concept video for the client. When it comes to production days you typically will notice that we scrap or just don’t use 80% of the footage. If you keep it around however you can always circle back to it for a new edit.

Just last Friday we had a shoot for Santo Fish Restaurant in Pico Rivera CA. This is a retainer client we have that we shoot once a month and give not only shoot cinematic footage for but also iphone and funny content. You see a lot of people will tell you that all they shoot is film like content but we won’t lie. Where we see a need for a company we will it. Not always does every client want their content or marketing to be the best visuals. They want the one that will relate with their audience the most and give them the best results. For this reason be adaptable. The Art of Documentary (AOD) taught me that more business doesn’t always mean more clients. More on that very soon 👊🏽

You tell me? I used to see people talk about gear didn’t matter and I now understand their reasons for saying that. However coming from a Lumix G85 that I started with for a podcast 6 years ago I can tell you that certain gear DOES MATTER.

The one thing I would say to my beginnner self would be to do more homework on what you want to shoot one day and work towards that. There are so many camera brands, lens brands, lighting brands and so much more in between for accessories that I got lost in buying something someone else I saw had that I didn’t stop to think what would benefit my filmmaking career. This is just the start even for me and I don’t know it all. However one thing I do now is check in with myself as to what makes sense to buy now and what actually will make a difference in what I’m filming now but will still be useful where my career is going. Hope that helps you not waste tons of cash like I did chasing trends.

Faith and work can be an uncertain thing when you work in the media world. A lot of times I found myself seeking the things of God yet didn’t understand why I had to say no to work when God says we are a blessed people. I remember thinking why can’t I work these projects when they’re the only ones that I am getting contacted for. I realize now that sticking to my convictions was far more important than I could have ever imagined. As a faith based production company our company goals don’t overshadow our ultimate personal goal of making it to heaven. One thing we did do however at the beginning was seek the council of our Pastor to get the right mindset for how to handle these situations.

If you’re a christian content creator and find yourself struggle with which way to go I want you to know this is normal. There are so many Godly creatives out there that don’t know how to start a media business. Loving Jesus does not mean you can’t chase a dream that Jesus himself planted in your heart. The key is to humble yourself before the Lord and pray for guidance as well as lean on the men and women of God he has established as authorities in your life to help you figure out your next step. I am a firm believer in this concept.

Most people focus on great visuals and that is a part of it. However I’ve seen more businesses go out of business because they don’t know what speaks to their target audience and future clients. We don’t focus on just making great content for that reason. We find out what will connect with the viewer and start our content strategy from there. Yes it’s awesome to make cinematic content. Further than that however it feels even better to make material that helps your clients grow their business.
