But never want to soul search again
You'll call your mind a martyr
And be a burden on your love
No self-reflection or personal gain

Knowing yourself can be the hardest thing
You've ever done
And it's even worse than you'd like
When you don't know how
You'll see when you're broken down
It's a hard road to drive somehow

That pride will get in the way

For dealing with facts that you can't see

It's something about the craft
And everything else to do with the struggle
A dozen overdraft fees
A hundred more puns so I didn't have to think
What I was really doing here
Payment due, was thinking I'd sink

I face the dirt of my youth
Hesitate the haste that it brings
Correct these late life lessons
Stared down the bottomless pit, oh it still stings

But they say "Grief is but a metaphor
For love lost and nowhere to go"
