🪵 Sawdust, Sparks & Pure Artistry: Jay County Chainsaw Carving Invitational 🪵
There is something hypnotic about watching a raw, untouched log transform into a living, breathing work of art—and nobody brings that energy to life quite like local master carver Myles Nasby (Nasby Chainsaw Carving ).
From carving his first black bear at age 13 to traveling across the country winning national carving competitions, Myles founded the Jay County Chainsaw Carving Invitational right here in Portland to bring world-class timber sculptors directly to our community.
📸 What you’ll experience through the lens:
Live, real-time transformations from 8-foot raw logs to intricate wildlife sculptures
High-speed quick-carve battles and live auctions to take original art home
Artisan vendor village, local food, and incredible creative energy across the grounds
📍 Where: Jay County Fairgrounds (806 E Votaw St, Portland, IN)
🎟️ Admission: Free & family-friendly
Whether you're coming to pick up a one-of-a-kind statement piece for your yard or capture the flying woodchips and motion through your camera, this is grassroots Midwest craftsmanship at its absolute finest.
