Recently we took a family vacation to Alaska. On the cruise ship, I was on my way to hear a naturalist speak.
Just walking down the hall of the ship, minding my own business, when something on the wall stopped me completely.
Squares of plaid. Deep green walls. Gold trim. A warm light fixture glowing overhead.
I did not see a pub. I saw Christmas.
My grandfather was born in England and he live to tap his foot to bagpipes. I know a good British pub when I see one. I may not know the name of this tartan or the clan it belongs to but I know what it means to me. Certain plaids carry something. A feeling. A memory. A season.
This one carries Christmas.
I see it everywhere I go. Sometimes I am not even looking.
I See Christmas Everywhere. Year-round.
