The Jenny Lens When being a Mom-tographer turned to photographer
The Jenny Lens was created
"It's The Way I See You" Hey there! My name is Jenn. I'm a creative by nature. Snap!

I enjoy writing, marketing, reading, decorating cakes, anything outdoors and I coach basketball on occasion. That's not what you are here for. So, let's talk photography. My earliest memory of my love for photography came at the age of 12. As many young girls do, a friend and I lacquered drugstore makeup and suave hairspray on her younger sister. I hijacked this really cool camera from my mom, the

disposable Kodak camera. It was cool at the time! And.... off we went. Three girls, one small midwest town. Down to the beach. To the woods. The playground at the school. Unable to see in real-time what the result of that point-and-shoot was. I'm sure I harassed my mom ad nauseam to get the film developed. When the product of our middle school play came back (Kmart prints), I remember being surprised and so was everyone else. They turned out beautiful! I mean, as beautiful as 1980's disposable camera with spackled makeup, stiff hair, and Kmart photo processing can be. It was the lighting. Her connection with the camera. Her comfort with me. That! was undeniable; even with all of the technology and youth we had working against us. As life would have it, however, I went on to do other things. I joined the US Navy, which took me to many different countries. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Worked in Corporate and Small Businesses. All the while using photography as a hobby to document the memories of my life. Until....

One person's request to document their memories, turned into another, turned into another, turned into writing an 'about' section for my own photography website and social media sites. Which possibly turns into you and I talking about documenting your special moments and memories also....

A session flows like a sports team.

we all meet for the first time.
the photog coaches you.
we collaborate.
we dominate.
we win.

The coach and the sports mom in me LOVES watching a session develop from uncertainty to empowerment.

That’s my passion. That’s my purpose.

For a reason, you signed a dotted line
One day you raised a bold right hand
For weeks, you trained to become elite
One day you became a soldier
For years, you laced your combat boots
One day you laced them one last time
For country, you left to become a soldier
One day you arrived draped by the flag

For a reason, you signed a dotted line
One day your boots were laced up for you
One day your comrades saluted you
One day your family wept
One day, American soldier, you were laid to rest

I make it a point to keep what happens in the dugout, in a locker room, or on a field none of my business. I’m just a fly on the wall with a camera.

I’m going to break that a little today. I had the opportunity to photograph these boys this spring. They were respectful, listened well, helpful, creative, coachable and fun. I could tell by their behavior, they had to be good ball players as well.

Fast forward a few months and I got to photograph them in action. Boy! Do these kids and coaches have integrity. They were, on the field, exactly who they were off of it too.

Plus, I was right, they are great ball players and played a great game!

I highly recommend Ignite Baseball for anyone who may be looking for a place to play. Impressed!

🇺🇸 July 4th 🇺🇸

America feels a little complicated this year. There’s a lot of noise out there.

But when I look at these kids holding the flag, I feel something steady underneath all of it: the idea that freedom, imperfect as it is, still matters.

The freedom to create something meaningful. To speak up. To stand together even when it’s hard.

Those freedoms came at a cost. People sacrificed everything so we could have choices—so we could raise our kids to believe their voices count.

That’s worth remembering. Worth protecting. Worth passing on.

Wishing you a day of reflection, gratitude, and hope for better days ahead. ❤️🤍💙
