"Across the Channel to Santa Cruz"

Beyond the last folds of foothill and chaparral, the land loosens its grip and leans toward the Pacific. Light settles gently over the descending hills, tracing their contours as they fall away to a wide, unhurried sea. In the distance, Santa Cruz rests like a quiet thought on the horizon, neither near nor far, simply present. Clouds drift overhead in slow procession, their shadows brushing the water with passing grace. It is a place of thresholds, where earth yields to salt and sky, and time seems to stretch, patient and generous, inviting the heart to follow the view outward.

A structure holding decades of purpose and patience.

The greenhouse at Knox Farm State Park stands somewhere between utility and grace. Glass softened by time. Lines shaped by function. Nature slowly reclaiming the edges. It is a place built to nurture growth, and even now, it feels alive with that intention.

Photographed on Kodak Tri-X 400, shot with a Canon Canonet QL17. Grain, contrast, and light doing what they have always done best—recording what endures when we slow down enough to notice.

Some places don’t ask for attention. They simply wait.

“Little boxes all the same...
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same”

Only this time, they’re stacked sky-high, catching snow and light instead of secrets.

Repetition becomes pattern. Pattern becomes calm. What looks ordinary at a glance turns lyrical when you slow down long enough to see it.

Same boxes. Same grid. Different light.
Sometimes the city hums a folk song if you’re willing to listen.

They move the way history does. Not in straight lines, but in surges, weight, and memory.

Texas Longhorns press forward, horns cutting arcs through the air, bodies overlapping into something almost indistinguishable from motion itself.

The moment passes. The photograph remains.
