I had a little reality check today.

I looked at this picture of myself and, like so many women, the first thing I noticed was the thing I didn't like.

So I asked my 9-year-old son:

“What’s the first thing you notice when you look at this picture of Mommy?”

His answer wasn't what I expected.

He didn't see the thing I was focused on.

He saw me.

And it made me think about how often we look at ourselves through a completely different lens than the people who love us do.

We see the stomach.
They see our smile.

We see the lines.
They see the woman who's lived a beautiful life.

We see everything we wish we could change.
They see the person they love.

Maybe the problem isn't that we don't look good in pictures. Maybe we've just gotten really good at looking for the things we don't like.

That's one of the reasons I love what I do.

Sometimes, we just need someone to show us what everyone else has been seeing all along. ❤️
