3 nice sized solar flares aimed generally at earth, erupted from the sun. The energy is moving fast and will start to arrive tomorrow night at some point hopefully. Here is my look at the clouds for Thursday evening into Friday morning for potential viewing of Northern Lights over Rhode Island. Some clouds around and a bright moon make it less than optimal. We should see a window where viewing is possible if the timing is right. Good luck!

Here's 10 images of the Northern Lights over Southern Rhode Island on October 6th 2024. It might be one of the prettiest progressions that I photographed, that entire stretch. These are 10 in a row and you can watch as it builds in. Maybe the 5th or 6th is my favorite. All shot in manual exposure mode with a 4" exposure, with manual WB on a Nikon Z8. Down on the salt ponds, Charlestown, Westerly area. Thanks so much for viewing.

Modern cameras blow my mind. This batch of shots is taken at the equivalent of 1600mm and from standing in my living room, looking out at my shrubs, through glass, from like 10-15 feet away. I was just fooling around, probably trying to photograph some other critter or bird passing by on my land, but I just had to share these.

Have a great Monday out there. Globs of water drops and a nice refreshing green. I hope you enjoy. Panasonic g9mkII with olympus 100-400 and Olympus 2x teleconverter. Basically magic if the conditions are right.
