My 2027 Sierra Nevada Calendars are here!

I just received the finished calendars from the printer, and I’m excited to finally be able to share them.

This 12-month calendar features some of my favorite landscape and wildlife photographs from throughout the Sierra Nevada and the surrounding foothills—places and wildlife I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph while exploring this incredible part of California.

Each month offers a new glimpse of the Sierra, from sweeping mountain landscapes and quiet lakes to some of the wildlife that calls this region home.

Photography is one of the ways I share my love of the outdoors, and I hope this calendar brings a little bit of that beauty into your home or office throughout 2027.

The calendars will be available directly from me, including at my upcoming shows and events. They also make a great gift for anyone who loves the Sierra Nevada, California wildlife, or simply spending time outdoors.

The last Arnold art and craft fair of the year is this weekend. I'll be setting up tomorrow afternoon. Come by and see me on either Saturday or Sunday. Or even both days! I'll be taking entries to give away another 12-inch x 18-inch fine art print of Camp Lake. There will, of course, be lots of other great vendors up there too. The weather is expected to be ideal, so I'm looking forward to the event and seeing you all.

For those of you with children or grandkids in your lives, my new Sierra Nevada Wildlife coloring book is now available on Amazon. Each of the pages was created from one of my photos. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. If it's liked, I will create others.

I realized recently that during the four years since I moved to Sonora, I had never taken a drive to Yosemite, even though it's relatively close. So yesterday I resolved that issue with an afternoon trip to the National Park. And it didn't disappoint – the views are as majestic as I had remembered.

I don't like getting political on this page. But there I times when it is simply necessary...

Help the wildlife that we all enjoy. Whether you're a hiker, camper, or simply like to see pictures, videos, or movies about these beautiful creatures, we all need to take action. Submit the form at the link, and try to put the why's in your own words. It costs nothing and only takes a few minutes.

The Trump administration just released its plan to undo the landmark 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule and strip protections from nearly 45 million acres of wild, national forest and 70,000 miles of rivers and streams. Tell the U.S. Forest Service to keep these roadless, public lands protected.

Took the new kayak on its maiden voyage today. With most of the kids starting school this week, I thought I would give Pinecrest Lake a try. And it wasn't crowded at all. After doing a little fishing in the morning, I met my daughter (Katie) and granddaughter (Lily) who came up with their paddle boards. It was another great day on the water. Although... the wind did come up in the afternoon and the trip back to the west end of the lake was quite the workout.

Sometimes the best wildlife encounters are the quiet ones.
I photographed these two female Common Mergansers as they made their way along the rocky shoreline of Don Pedro Reservoir in Tuolumne County. I especially liked the contrast between their warm chestnut-colored heads, the muted colors of the rocks, and their reflections in the calm water.

It's scenes like this that remind me to slow down and pay attention to what's happening along the edges—not just out across the open water.

Come see me tomorrow at the final Twain Harte Mountain Air Market of the Year at Eproson Park (4:00-7:00 PM). My new kid's coloring book, with all images converted from my Sierra wildlife photographs, arrived just in time. I'll be running an end of summer special tomorrow, so come get one or two or three for your children or grandkids for only $5 each. Add a 24 pack of crayons for another $1. Hope to see you there.

Went to Moccasin Point at Don Pedro Reservoir today with my daughter Katie and granddaughter Lily so that they could try out their new paddle boards while I continued to play with my new camera lens. They both did great and had loads of fun. We couldn't help but end the day with a soft-serve cone at Frosty in Jamestown.
