✨The Solberg home he built for himself is going up for sale✨
For years I have heard about the master craftsman/builder William Solberg and his beautifully built homes. In 2006 he built this amazing home for himself and when I heard it was going up for sale, I was hoping I would get the call to photograph it!
Yes, it needs a little TLC to some of the exterior features, and there were a few hurricane shutters that were not functional - but all I can say is WOW. Before you look at the sample images, here is some background:
William Solberg is heavily celebrated for his strict focus on ultra-high-end privacy, custom woodwork, and hyper-durable coastal engineering along the Florida Forgotten Coast. His building footprint stands out for blending natural Florida elements with luxury resort-style amenities.
The coastal estate at 2904 Hidden Beaches Road was built in 2006.
Because it was originally commissioned and meticulously custom-built by William Solberg himself, he and his family served as the property's original developers and occupants. The home was intentionally designed as a showcase piece of his signature high-end coastal architectural style before eventually changing hands in later years.
Signature Construction Features
Solberg homes are identifiable by specific premium design choices engineered to withstand the demanding Gulf of Mexico environment:
• Structural Engineering: Heavy use of HardieBoard siding, high-pitch metal roofing, elevated pilings, and pre-engineered elevator shafts built directly into the floor plans.
• Interior Craftsmanship: Renowned for expansive open-concept main levels, elaborate custom interior woodwork, multi-deck panoramic layouts, and integrated closet organizational systems.
• Multi-Master Layouts: Many of his builds prioritize privacy for multiple families or guests by executing floor plans featuring four or more independent master bedroom suites.
Primary Neighborhood Locations
Instead of building mass-production master-planned subdivisions, Solberg focuses on heavily secluded, low-density waterfront alcoves:
• St. Teresa Beach (East End): Known for mastering hidden enclaves like the private 5-acre, gated coastal subdivisions along St. Teresa Landing Road, where density is restricted to as few as three ultra-private homes surrounded by native woods.
• Alligator Point & St. George Island: Properties strategically positioned to capture dual-vantage views, offering completely unobstructed sights of both the open Gulf of Mexico and the Apalachicola/St. George Bay systems.
Property & Land Design
His properties often merge acreage with communal waterfront amenities. Solberg-designed home parcels frequently feature deeded access to private 500-foot community docks, private beach gates, and deep-water access while keeping adjacent half-acre or full-acre conservation buffer parcels available to preserve total isolation.
Floor Plan & Interior Features
The structural layouts emphasize luxury hosting and resilient engineering:
• Multi-Level Setup: Equipped with a private elevator and independent kitchenettes on every living level to support multi-family privacy.
• Living Spaces: Large primary suite with a massive walk-in closet, a dedicated craft room, a game room, a workout room, and a top-floor bonus/bunk media room.
• Resiliency: Constructed on pilings with a metal roof, wrapped in storm shutters, and backed by a whole-house generator.
• Storage & Parking: Features massive underlying clearance and driveway room for 5+ vehicles, accommodating large boats and RVs
