After the the Rosebud Wacipi, the Pow Wow trail led to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Pow Wow. A thunderstorm pass by the area late into the evening as the dancing and drum group pounding their drums to the rhythm of the thunder overhead.

The Nutcracker Ballet Series from this year's performance is up today. I posted the larger set for dancers and parents to see but I do plan to trim this post down in a week to a more manageable stronger set of photos that were loosely inspired by the new Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms movie.

Every December, the stage at Marshfield High School comes to life with dancers from the Main Street Conservatory of Dance who perform the iconic Tchaikovsky score of The Nutcracker. The performance by these talented dancers is surreal, a true gem for this rural central Wisconsin community.

Here is the complete set from my first Pow Wow experience with a camera in hand. It was an amazing oppurtunity to work with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in capturing thier 142nd Annual Wacipi in Rosebud, South Dakota.

The Rosebud Wacipi is a favorite stop on the pow wow trail, where generations of Lakota have gathered to celebrate their proud culture. During the Wacipi I set up a canvas backdrop to capture portraits in a likeness to those of Edward Curtis from the early 1900s
