the toddler refused to wear shoes. the 6 year old found a stick and declared it a sword. somebody cried for 45 seconds because we said “one more photo”

and then this happened.

the wedding day packing list you didn’t know you needed 👀

because somehow it’s ALWAYS the tiniest things that become very important on a wedding day 😂

after photographing a whole lot of weddings, these are the things we’d want within reach. the fashion tape. the crochet hook. the stain remover. the snacks. the phone charger. and PLEASE don’t forget the rings. 😂

some are for emergencies, some make getting ready way easier, and some (hi invitation suite + vow books 👋) make sure all those little details you spent months choosing actually get photographed.

you probably won’t need all 25.

but the one thing you do need? you’ll be very happy you packed it. 🤍

you only get married once, so yes… your wedding photos should be iconic. 🤍

and kathleen + dan absolutely understood the assignment.

the top hat. the deep reds. the garden portraits. that golden hour. the little in-between moments that somehow end up becoming the photos you love the most.

iconic doesn’t have to mean overly posed or perfectly curated. it can look like you. just elevated, intentional, and full of everything that made the day yours.

because these aren’t just photos for instagram. they’re the photos you’ll still be pulling out decades from now. 🥹

you probably don’t actually want fully candid wedding photos. 👀

and I say that with SO much love because we LOVE the candid, documentary feel too.

the blurry dance floor photos. the teary hugs. your grandma laughing during cocktail hour. the way your partner looks at you when you’re not paying attention. the tiny moments happening around you that you didn’t even know we caught.

YES. we want all of that.

but truly documentary photography means the photographer doesn’t interfere. at all.

and most couples don’t actually want to be completely left alone in front of the camera. 😂

you probably still want someone to tell you where to stand when the light is better three feet to your left.

you want someone to fix your dress when it’s folded underneath you.

you want someone to give you something to do so your photos feel natural instead of wondering, “wait… what do I do with my hands?”

you want someone who can organize your family photos quickly AND disappear into the background when your dad starts tearing up.

that’s the sweet spot for us.

we’ll give you direction when you need it, then back off and let the real stuff happen.

because your wedding photos should feel like your day actually felt, while still being photos you’re obsessed with. 🤍

wedding photographer’s tip every couple should know

as a wedding photographer, i’ve watched hundreds of days unfold, and there’s one moment couples almost always skip and almost always regret skipping.

make time for one big group photo.

not the formal family lineup, the actual big one. everyone who came, everyone who matters, in one frame.

it takes five minutes. it feels unnecessary in the moment because everyone’s already there, everyone’s already in the room. but weddings are one of the only times in your life your whole people will ever be in the same place again.

you may never get that again.

so when your photographer asks for five minutes to gather everyone, say yes. you’ll treasure that photo more than almost anything else from the day.

here are a few things NO photographer should do on your wedding day….

1. show up late
2. dress like they forgot where they were going
3. interrupt your first look, your vows, your first dance
4. treat your family and guests like they’re in the way
5. disappear into their phone unless it’s for your timeline

your wedding day photographer isn’t just capturing photos. they’re setting the tone for how present you get to be in your own day.
