1 Epic Adventure!

0|||||0 On Sept 2, we left Tahoe Valley Campground in our Jeep Rubicon Gladiator at 8am and headed to the Rubicon Trail with a group of Renegade RV Jeep friends and returned at 6pm on Sept 3.

😍 What a fun adventure!

😅 12 miles doesn’t sound like a lot, but the Rubicon is basically one long jeep obstacle! It was a couple of really long days with an overnight on the trail. Some of us slept in our jeeps, some in tents. Not the most comfortable or restful night, but it was only one night. And boy did it make us appreciate our hot showers and cozy beds in our Renegade RVs last night! 😊

📸 It will take some time to go through the 785 pictures we took along the way. 🤪 But here are a few of the beautiful views and some of the jeep challenges.

📍 Cape Arago State Park
13 August 2026
☀️ We finally had some blue sunny skies, so we headed here to take in the beautiful Oregon coast views and thousands of seals & sea lions!

🥾 We did 2 shorts trails on the Cape. One takes you to a high overlook with a view of hundreds of seals & sea lions below. The other takes you to a beautiful overlook of South Beach and Drake’s Point.

From Long Beach, we continued south along the coast to this campground just north of Tillamook, Oregon.

🚌 The drive along Highway 101 is so beautiful. Lots of views along the way of the ocean and coastline. We included a couple quick pics we took. Since we’ve driven this route multiple times now (so blessed!), we passed by a lot of the usual points of interest stopping in some areas we haven’t explored much.

🏕️ We enjoyed relaxing for a couple days at this county park campground. It was full but we were able to get a large pull through site less than a week out. The beach was huge and dog friendly. Convenient to Tillamook if you haven’t been or need supplies.

🔥 We found the Tillamook Country Smoker Factory Outlet and stocked up on beef jerky and smoked sausages for trail snacks. We love them because most are sugar free and they are quite tasty! The factory outlet had options & flavors we hadn’t seen anywhere and some good prices. (Most prices were same as we have seen in stores though.)

🏖️ Tried to capture all the driftwood “buildings” on Rockaway Beach. This is a common sight on beaches along the PNW coast. It is often quite windy, so folks build shelters with all the trees that wash up along the shore. These were the most substantial we’ve seen anywhere.

While staying at Beach Bound RV Park here in Coos Bay, Oregon we stopped by Chuck's Seafood and picked up some delicious smoked salmon dip. We trie just a taste when we got back to the RV, but ended up finishing it all for ‘dinner’; so we went back for more. That’s when we took a chance on this local Blackberry Honey. WOW! It’s very sweet (almost a cotton candy vibe on first taste) and then you get the fruity, berry notes. DELICIOUS! It’s some of the best bee spit we’ve ever had. Hopefully, we still have some left when we next get to Maryland, so our favorite Master Bee Keeper Russell Sprangel can try a sample.

🍨 🫐 THE best Chocolate Ice Cream from Hansen’s Farm Fresh Dairy in Hudson, Iowa and fresh blueberries we picked at Cranguyma Farm in Long Beach, Washington.
Heaven! 😋

🚌 Yesterday, we left Willapa Brewing in South Bend and headed to our next Harvest Hosts, Cranguyma Farm in Long Beach, Washington. Short travel day at only an hour drive. Cranguyma is a U Pick blueberry farm this time of year and cranberries in the fall. We are parked right across from THE tallest blueberry “bushes” (more like trees) with the scent of blueberries in the air. 💙

🧺 We spent about an hour last evening picking blueberries. They have multiple varieties, and we had no problem finding LOTS of perfect blueberries. Organic and completely pesticide free! We picked just over 7 lbs. freezing about 6 quarts and keeping the remainder out for snacking on today. We picked another 7 lbs this evening. Sooo good!

👍 Highly recommend this HH. Nice quiet location just minutes to the beach and town.

😍This is why we love staying at Harvest Hosts! Such great experiences/opportunities, AND we have a wonderful place to stay also.

Cranberries, Disappointment, Crepes, Beach, & Blue Sky!!!
Yesterday, we enjoyed all of the above!

Last Sunday, we left Glacier NP and started heading west looking for cleaner air. It was a challenge! We were blessed with mostly decent air quality while in Glacier, only having one really bad air day. But the forecast showed that was changing and would stay very unhealthy for a while. Unfortunately, where we hoped to go next, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, the air was also in the unhealthy range, except for the coast. So that’s how we ended up at a Harvest Host, Willapa Brewing in South Bend, Washington. We took advantage of this host allowing multiple nights and stayed 2 nights.

So yesterday, we headed off to do some sightseeing. First stop was Long Beach and a late breakfast. We had the BEST CREPES EVER from Coastal Class Crepes which we enjoyed on the boardwalk overlooking the beach. Then we walked off our indulgence along Long Beach (World’s Longest Beach) with Murphy.

Next, we checked out the Cranberry Museum. Such a great museum where you can learn all about cranberries, cranberry harvesting, and see fields of cranberries. Their gift shop was well stocked with all things cranberry. We bought several gallons of fresh frozen cranberries, cranberry syrup, and cranberry ice cream (which was soooo good!).

Finally, we headed to Cape Disappointment State Park. We did 2 hikes (about 3 miles total) to see their 2 lighthouses, North Head & Cape Disappointment, and beautiful Deadman’s Cove. Murphy was able to join us on all the trails, too.

Then it was time to head back to Willapa Brewing for a delicious hand tossed pizza and tasty brews on their dog friendly outdoor patio while enjoying the blue skies and clean air.

😍 Our beautiful sunset view over Lower St Mary Lake this evening!

🔈Turn up the volume to hear the distant loon calls.

☀️ We finally had clear enough skies to get some color. The wildfire smoke haze has been too dense in the mornings and evenings for any color during sunrise and sunset. So this was a surprise when I was taking Murphy out for his final break. Thankfully, he was quick so I could hurry over to the lake edge to capture this.

📍 Fishercap Lake & Redrock Falls
Glacier National Park, Many Glacier area
25 July 2026

😍 Day one in Glacier National Park reminded us why this is our favorite National Park and why we LOVE being full time RVers!

🐻 Our day started off with a black bear crossing the entrance road in front of us.

👏 Then we pulled right into a parking spot by Swiftcurrent Motor Inn which is where we access the trailhead for Fishercap Lake & Redrock Falls. Such beautiful hanging basket flowers on the porch, and they still have pay phones.

🦌 Our first stop was Fishercap Lake. Beautiful lake and scenery! And we saw a momma deer and a fawn across the lake. The fawn was so cute frolicking in the water!

🫎 We walked along the waters edge enjoying the gorgeous views when a fellow hiker let us know there was a moose at the other end of the lake. Perfect! Every time we have visited this lake we have seen at least one moose. While we were enjoying watching this bull moose noshing, we saw a momma moose with a calf emerge from the woods on the far side of the lake! Can’t ask for a better start to our visit to Glacier! ♥️

💦 After getting our fill of the Fishercap Lake Wildlife, we hiked on to Redrock Lake for more beautiful views and a sneak peek of the waterfall on the far side. Then continued on to Redrock Falls. Lots of places to climb on the rocks for different views of the falls and enjoy a quick snack.

🥾 This was a great 1st day hike. We hiked about 4 miles RT with only 242 ft elevation, which is pretty short & flat for hikes in Glacier. 😂

📸 Mark got some awesome wildlife captures with his zoom lens which we will share in a separate post.
