URGENT: Texas DPS is aware of a fake memo circulating online and through media outlets announcing temporary 10-day road closures in the El Paso area. DPS is NOT closing the major highways – or any roads – in or out of the area over the next 10 days.

On April 6th, 2026 the El Paso Police Department responded to two separate collisions at the 6300 block of N. Desert. The first collision involved 4 vehicles. Just after that collision a separate collision occurred involving a 2016 BMW and 2026 Subaru Outback. Jaime Humberto Andrade who was operating the Subaru was struck from behind at a high rate of speed by the 2016 BMW. Jaime Humberto Andrade was transported to the hospital however succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision. Special Traffic Investigators were called to the scene for further investigation as well as the DWI Task Force.

Investigators believe alcohol is a contributing factor in this collision. This is the15th traffic fatality of the year compared to 19 the same time last year. The investigation continues…
