I’m going to be honest, this session wasn’t the easiest. Monroe was teething and wasn’t too sure about an unfamiliar place and a camera in her face. But honestly, these photos feel like such an honest reflection of motherhood. It’s hard, messy and emotional but if we focus too much on that, we will miss the glimpses of beauty in the small moments. Karlee was great about being patient with her and waiting for her normal sweet self to surface through the pain she was experiencing.

It’s gearing up to be a VERY busy weekend for my family. We have baseball and soccer in two different cities hours apart from each other. At first I was very upset by it and maybe would have let it ruin my weekend. But these photos have reminded me that even though it’s not going as I would ideally like it to, I’m going to take it slow, enjoy the moments I do get and remind myself that all the good stuff comes in the small moments.

We arrived at our location for this session and our basketball court was SOOO packed with people. We waited to see if they’d leave but they only multiplied by the minute. So after two states, two parks and two hours we managed to fit in all the fun activities we had planned. This job is always keeping me on my toes. Thankful for this family for being so kind and flexible through it all! 💖

I captured the sweetest, completely unplanned moment of a grandmother during a recent newborn session and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.

I don’t talk about this often but my mother has Alzheimer’s and I wish I had more pictures of her with my own children before her disease took over. You don’t truly appreciate your own parents until you have children of your own.

So I’m opening up my Motherhood Minis on May 2 to generations.
