Everybody says they want honesty until the truth makes them uncomfortable. Then suddenly you’re “doing too much” for saying what nobody else had the guts to say.

Sometimes they don’t miss you. They miss the access.

They miss knowing you’d answer. That you’d show up. That your attention was still there whenever they needed it.

Take that access away and watch how quickly “I miss you” starts showing up.

The real question is: do they miss you… or do they miss what you did for them?

somewhere along the way, caring became embarrassing.

friendships, dating, even just checking in on people, it feels like everybody’s trying to make sure they never look more invested than the other person. reply too fast, you care too much. reach out first, you’re doing too much. make an effort, suddenly you’re “chasing.”
