As a photographer, I specialize in storytelling photography. With your home as our backdrop, we have fun capturing the everyday, sentimental moments that you want to hold onto forever. Alternatively, styled shoots are ideal for those who appreciate one of a kind, gorgeous storytelling scenes with their kiddos stepping into the roles of characters within the story. In addition to photography, I also offer mentoring and photography classes, aka "Bootcamps". One on one mentoring is available at a cost of $150 per hour, or $100 per hour if more than 5 hours are booked.

Where to have your photos taken?

That's a big question.

And the answer depends on

-the vibe that you want
-how much variety you want (Elizabethtown offers a wider range of backgrounds)
-where you live and whether or not you're willing to travel
-my availability (I have limited dates for Dimock, but open ended options in Elizabethtown)
-do you want air conditioning (Dimock's open areas can be brutal in the summer!)
-do you want options that can be used even if it rains?
-are you interested in unique spaces like a record store (Etown Record Lounge!), or a room with a book wall (The Creative Spaces)?

To further help you decide, here are the two main locations we're using in the fall of 2026!

Elizabethtown and The Creative Spaces of Kim Winey Photography
and
The countryside in Dimock, PA - Susquehanna County.

I love them both! But I'm sure you can tell which one is my favorite. 🤗

Elizabethtown, PA’s founders, Barnabas and Elizabeth Hughes are from County Donegal, Ireland, home of Letterkenny.

In 2002, as part of Elizabethtown’s 175th Anniversary Celebration, government officials from Elizabethtown and Letterkenny signed a Sister City Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a partnership that created opportunities for cultural, educational, and community exchanges between the two towns.

For several years, delegations from Letterkenny visited Elizabethtown, sharing stories of their area’s history and culture. In return, groups from Elizabethtown traveled to Ireland to explore the Irish countryside and learn more about the heritage that helped shape our community. These were more than just explorations into our shared history however. They allowed us to observe modern day practices as well. One example being the “Tidy Town’s” flowers in Letterkenny. Downtown Elizabethtown’s color-coordinated flower baskets are thanks to Letterkenny's inspiration.

Over time, communication and formal visits between our two towns lapsed. And the only visible connection between us was a Sister City sign in Letterkenny, and Etown’s New Year’s Eve tradition at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. During this event, we celebrate the coming of the new year at 7pm to be in alignment with Letterkenny’s midnight.

Fast forward to late 2023, when I began working with Discover Elizabethtown. I thought a pen pal exchange between Letterkenny and Elizabethtown might produce some interesting highlights for our social media pages and perhaps rekindle our cross-cultural connection. I reached out to the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter, told them about the idea, and asked who I should speak with.

Donnan Harvey responded with some very surprising news: In 2014, Letterkenny’s Town Council was dismembered due to an economic collapse in Ireland. This made the memorandum null and void.

We were no longer Sister Cities.

Being visionary, community-oriented citizens, Donnan and I both saw the opportunities and benefits that a renewed partnership could bring to our towns and we pursued it with passion… and patience, communicating with the leadership in our towns, and chatting every other month or so.

In 2024, my sister, Dana Smith and I visited Letterkenny.
And in 2025, Donnan visited Elizabethtown.
There are too many details to share here, but both trips were amazing with each town rolling out the red carpet to warmly welcome its visitors. Tours were given, meetings and events were organized, new connections were made, and more inspiration occurred.

In 2026, under the new direction of Elizabethtown’s borough council president, Jeff Winterbourne, with the support of our mayor, Phil Clark and other Elizabethtown leaders, momentum to reconnect us as sister cities formally began.

On Monday, July 6th, an online signing took place to establish the Elizabethtown Borough and the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District as Twin Towns.

On Thursday, July 9th, 11 representatives of Elizabethtown arrived in Letterkenny, where an in-person signing and 4-day tour of the area began.

It was a wonderful trip with many memorable experiences and conversations. *There are several photo albums with some descriptions in the captions, on my page (with more still to come).

What’s next?

Discussions have begun to host a Letterkenny delegation in April of 2027, during Elizabethtown’s 200th Anniversary.

This will be a full circle moment for our two towns that we’re truly looking forward to!

Capturing the crazy - honestly, that's the best way I can describe it. And I LOVE IT! This family ALWAYS provides amazing moments of affection, combined with a fun-loving spirit and so much laughter. While I love me a good, romantic session with long flowy dresses and flowers, I will admit that if I could photograph authentic family moments like this every day - I would in a heartbeat! Senior portraits - with mom?

Yes!

While the focus is on the senior for the majority of our session, I always encourage parents to jump into a shot or two.

These times are precious.

Capture them while you can.

Cherish them forever.

"The Experience" - a Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter highlight worth requesting!

This theatrical tour through Letterkenny's Cathedral Quarter offers beautiful views, historical education, and costumed characters who bring it all to life!

Put on by Elusive Theatre, it was a memory I've carried with me since our 2024 visit and I was thrilled to *experience" it once again with our group from Elizabethtown and a few L'Kenny community members.
