When we look at our imperfect world, it is easy to forget how much our primate nature is still operative and in control. Aggression, territoriality, selfishness, anger, vindictiveness, and other legacies of our primitive past still beleaguer us today. We do have a higher mind that transcends these traits and tendencies, if we would only cultivate and perceive more frequently from the perspective it provides. Our primitive nature is the real devil in ourselves that we must recognize and overcome to break free from our long habituated destructive tendencies. But we must want to do this. If we could all just realize the that our negative primitive impulses do not serve us, and ultimately do not succeed, perhaps more of us will wake up. We can properly conceptualize divinity as the state of consciousness of loving awareness. We must turn to this divinity by cultivating and clarifying loving awareness. Then we shall possess a new consciousness that our primate ancestors did not possess. By loving awareness, we will have compassion and kindness for ourselves and others. We will know that cooperation and compromise are better for ultimate success and the positive continuing evolution of humanity. We will know that we are all in this together, and that we can only survive together. We have the power and ability to to accomplish this, one mind and one heart at a time…
