Although I have had my ups and downs with a camera in my hand, photography has enabled me to live a happy & satisfied life. I went to a local CVS bought some cheap film and went to work. The trial and error process of learning how to shoot with film was very challenging–take a shot, write down setting, take another shot, write down the setting and etc. After a few months, I began to understand wha
t, at the time, I would consider a good photograph. In 2008 I attended Columbia College Chicago as a photography major. The school taught me how to print images and how to survive on my own. After only taking a couple of photography classes, I had to move back home to Middlebury, Indiana. After being home for only a few months, my camera was stolen. At the time, I didn't think too much about it because—well, I hadn't touched it since college anyway. I decided I was going to go to cosmetology school. I moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana to start my new career path as a cosmetologist. After being in school for a couple of months, I was granted a loan and that enabled me to purchase my first digital Camera. While in Cosmetology school and because of my background in photography, I was asked to take photographs at school events. Out of nowhere my passion for creating images came back. I graduated cosmetology school and headed straight to Detroit to work on still images for a film for a month. After finishing my work in Detroit, I worked as a photographer in LA. Now that I am back in Fort Wayne, I have built a life that revolves around my camera. I have a handful of wonderful assistants and a 1,400 square foot studio. I also teach photography classes for people who want to learn how to take the next step towards perfecting their skills with a camera. Photography has not only allowed me to travel across Untied States, but other countries as well. I have met some of the best people and have had some of the best experiences. I hope to keep pushing myself to be the best photographer that I can be. I never stop learning and I never stop trying new things. I love what I do and I wouldn't change a thing.
