Update on this: I do indeed have an illness related to lone star ticks. The dr believes it’s Ehrlichiosis (hope I spelled that right🤣) and I have to get blood tests done for alpha gal & Lyme in a couple weeks.

I mean it when I say CHECK YOURSELVES! This is quite miserable, my whole body is aching😅

Alright, as much as I love this little area in the images below, I will no longer be using it for the rest of summer🥲 Everyone loves this spot and requests it from my other sessions, but I now think it’s too risky for tick exposure. (Especially since the ticks found were Lone Stars)

Small update on that; what I estimated was around 20 tick bites is actually closer to 50😵‍💫 We kinda stopped counting as removing them so 20 was a wild guess.

This rain has really been killing my schedule😭
We had to move this session to 6:30 am to avoid the forecasted storms, and of course, they ended up hitting much later than expected🙄 Either way, these turned out absolutely beautiful✨

My #1 tip for working with kids: don’t force poses if they aren’t cooperating. Make it fun and work with them not against them. Playful shots are always better than crying shots👌🏻 let them get that energy out

Quick PSA: I do a lot of my sessions in areas with tall grass and lots of greenery. While this is super popular with my clients, I cannot stress enough to take proper precautions when it comes to ticks. Make sure to thoroughly check yourselves after sessions if we are in grassy areas.

After a session in Coonskin on Saturday, I thought I was okay because at a quick glance I didn’t find anything. Fast forward to 48 hours later, I find over 20 poppy seed size ticks on myself and am now taking antibiotics as a preventative for Lyme’s disease. These tiny ticks are so easy to miss, so make sure you’re really checking close!

Needless to say, I’m going to be bringing tick/ bug spray with me everywhere now😅
