1️⃣ Plan your outfit — Try everything on ahead of time. And yes…iron it. 😩
2️⃣ Get some rest — Your eyes and energy will thank you.
3️⃣ Hydrate — Start the day before, not on your way to the studio.
4️⃣ Handle the grooming — Hair, facial hair, nails, and the little details matter.
5️⃣ Arrive ready and on time — Give yourself a few minutes to settle in before we start creating.

A little preparation means more time for great images—and less time asking Photoshop for miracles. 😂📸

Some legacies are inherited. The special ones keep evolving.

At 17 years old, Jamie Hawkins is beginning to add his own chapter to a remarkable musical family story.

His father, Walter Jamie Hawkins, has carried the Hawkins tradition forward as a producer, musical director and pastor. And his grandparents, Walter and Tramaine Hawkins, are names woven deeply into the history of gospel music.

That’s quite a mantle for a young man to inherit.

But what I enjoyed about photographing Jamie is knowing that this isn’t simply a story about where he comes from. It’s also about where he’s going.

He’s already begun pursuing his own career producing music—taking the foundation passed down through generations and beginning to shape it into something of his own.

I’ve had the opportunity to photograph different generations of this musical family, and there’s something special about watching the story continue through my lens.

The legacy moves forward. 🎶📸

Imagine your portrait 40 inches tall on a wall.

Some photographs are meant to be posted. Others deserve a wall.

Over the years I’ve created thousands of portraits, but there’s something about black & white that continues to pull me back.

Without color, everything comes down to the person, the light, the expression and the moment.

My goal isn’t simply to give my clients beautiful photographs. I strive to create at least one image from a session that feels iconic—something you’d be proud to print large, frame and make part of your home.

A great client relationship isn’t always built from one photoshoot.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph through maternity, birthdays, branding sessions, creative concepts and mobile content shoots.
