I had the honor and privilege of documenting my cousin Sheas labor. Editing these brought tears to my eyes because the amount of strength you can see is truly amazing and so beyond inspiring.

Shea had a very difficult labor and was fully dilated from noon until 7 PM. After trying to push 3 different times, hours apart, she was rushed back for an emergency c-section. After the c-section, both Shea and her sweet baby, Emmy, were in critical condition and we weren’t sure if they were going to be okay.

The nurses brought Jimmy back to the room, where he waited in tears on updates about his wife and his daughter, after he and Shea both watched Emmy receive CPR. He showed strength beyond belief as well, and I can’t put into words how proud I am of both of them.

Thankfully Shea is home recovering, and Emmy is on the mend in the Lexington nicu. They are on their way there to visit her as I type this, and hopefully they will all be home together by next weekend! 🤍
