In today's earlier video, I mentioned Rose (the livestock guardian dog) was doing very good lately (She's almost 2 years old).
Well, then she was busted with a hen in her mouth.
This picture is where the point of impact occurred.

Whenever chickens get attacked, the feathers drop like this.
This is usually what I look for around the yard or field when I suspect a predator has taken a chicken.
Luckily, for this hen, my daughter caught her in time & Rose released her from her mouth.

She does have a wound on her leg, but in my experience chickens heal really well.

Morning animal check in, and chicken release time.
Fall clean up, & winter prep these next few weeks.. new plastic, clean up trash, more bedding in barns, add water warmers, etc.
real life isn't beautifully aesthetic, and i don't stress myself trying to make it that way.

Anyone else cut their own firewood for wood heat in the winter? Quite the job!

Saturday afternoon was tackling the clean put on the two coops & goat barn.
It was a dusty, dirty mess.
The goat barn was a little more difficult than anticipated.
But the least liked chore is done for awhile.

Life lately.... I appreciate being home so much more these days.

I've reached that point in life where I'd rather be outside with the animals, working on little projects around the yard, baking something from scratch, messy bun, or just enjoying a quiet night at home.

There's always something that needs doing.. Something to clean..
Something to fix..
And usually an animal getting into something it shouldn't...
Like a chicken getting its leg stuck in a feed bucket, hanging upside down, waiting to give me a heart attack (thankfully I found her in time, she's fine) 🤦‍♀️🐔

But I wouldn't trade the peace (and occasional chaos) of this little homestead life for much.

I've learned that a simple life doesn't necessarily mean an easy one... if you know, you know..

It just means finding happiness in the everyday things that once seemed so ordinary

A little goat family walking.
Goats wanted to do a lap around the field. I am not sure what Sunny had in mind.

You guys!! Time is going by so fast!! It'll be here before we know it 🎄😍🐓🐐

Do I have my ducks.. I mean goats in a row? Sometimes, yes, very briefly.
