The King.
An incredible encounter in Bushy Park, London. A protected wilderness area that was once private hunting grounds for King Henry VIII.
Red deer are the UKs largest land mammal and being able to photograph some in such a historical area was a privilege.
I have more incredible shots and footage to come from this encounter, but enjoy these of His Majesty for now.

A few bird shots from over the summer. Big, small, raptors, water birds, songbirds. We saw them all.

A little elk velvet shedding action from a couple of weeks ago.
Ahead of the rut, their testosterone spikes, the blood flow stops, and the velvet dries out and starts to fall off.
To the elk it feels itchy, so you’ll often see them thrashing against trees or scrub to remove it.
They will then often eat the nutrient-rich velvet to help replenish what they lost while growing their antlers.
Swipe to the second photo which shows that velvet consumption isn’t strictly constrained to their own.

It doesn’t matter how much experience or knowledge you have, there are no guarantees when you head into the wild.
Any time the animal you’re searching for is where you hoped they’d be, is a special moment.

Felt that thunder clap in my body. 😅
Always good to have a reminder of the sheer power of Mother Nature.
