Isn’t this family sweet?!? They woke up early to watch the sunrise, and I was thrilled to help them document their time together in the Mountains!

I love how a photo session can be an opportunity to focus on what matters most, to hold each other a little closer, and look into each other’s eyes a little longer than usual.

Today, my kids, Maddie and Griffin got up before me, they were playing Minecraft in the other room as I woke up. They squabble from time to time, but today they had a quick little squabble and then back to calm, just talking and playing.

Maddie asked Griffin, “would you rather be rich, or have a sister?”

Griffin, “I have a sister, sitting right by me” and went on talking about the game…

Maddie asked again “would you rather be rich, or have a sister?”

Griffin “a sister”

They’re all laughing together in the other room, and this absolutely fills my cup.

All I did for myself is slow down and observe. I know it’s not always, and for some, never this easy.

Sometimes you really need to look, and work hard to find the good, but let’s face it, sometimes it’s sitting right by you.

I’m bringing this up because often we’re detracted from the real treasure in our lives, and don’t even realize we’re voluntarily passing up and missing out on what makes our life rich and meaningful.

I don’t wanna miss out on this, do you?!

What are some of your greatest memories? I think one of my top 10 was the day we brought our daughter home from the hospital. We were just in awe of the sweet little beauty, and my 2 year old son was ready to take a nap beside her almost right away.
Thats one of the many reasons I encourage cozy, in home newborn sessions. There is something so special about the home you raise your kids in, even if you move into your dream home later on. This time in your life can be so blissful.

I always love working with my friends and celebrating life together! Chloe and I met while working at Starbucks a few years back, and she always cracked me up with funniest sayings. Like one time we were closing after a crazy busy summer day, running back and forth with mops, brooms and Chloe had this huge heavy trash bag full of used coffee grounds that ripped open and spilled everywhere next to a storage shelf. I was lucky enough to hear her utter in her funny way "what the d**K!? 😂 So from bringing the humor to break up the otherwise mundane, or frustrating times, to lifting others as she climbs and being a badass Mom to her kids - I can say she is one of a kind, and such a light in this world.

When you're expecting a sweet baby, you're already in love with this little one, making so, so many plans.
Sacrificing coffee when baby is already taking your precious sleep and energy, and lets not forget the booze, when you need it most and your man is sitting next to you drinking it from the stress of becoming a Dad! Watching what you eat when sometimes all you can stomach is saltines, staying active, drinking tons of water, the list goes on....we all know this.

You can already call yourself a Mom! And once a mom, you're always a mom, in my book.

My sweet little Mom friend did all of these things so well and made it look so easy, she climbed so many mountains while joyfully carrying her baby.

I admire her so much more than my words can express.

I love any opportunity to do portraits in the Stanley Hotel. Every year they host the Estes Park high school Prom! For those who don't know, this hotel is said to be haunted and Stephen King found his inspiration to produce The Shining when he was staying in this hotel! So you bet we had some fun with long exposures, moody light and reflections! Zoe and Bram went for a victorian gothic theme on their Prom day, and were such a fun couple to work with!
They did get their photos a
couple of days after Prom, but I couldn't help but share them too;)

Just step into this picture, imagine this is you and your little cubs. Feeling the slight chill in the air and having the time of your life! It's easier than you think!
Bear in mind, this trip is best for ages 5 and up, unless you have a nice hiking baby carrier of course 💕🏔

Did you know every little thing you do matters?
This morning I chose to give a little more. I was half awake, just tempted to pore a bowl of cereal for my kids and get back to work, but while I was washing the dishes I remembered my son wanted oatmeal yesterday.
It takes a little more time slicing up the bananas and getting it just the way we like it, but I know he was excited, and he was the only one of my three kids who would eat it, but I have no regrets.
I think of this photoshoot from last summer the same way. It takes a little more time and effort to hike and plan outfits, but it was worth it. The kids climbed rocks and explored wildlife, flowers, and a bit of fresh mountain air all the way up, and we got to know each other a little bit. This little family was an absolute dream!
Anyway my point is these little things add up over time. You may be tempted to believe that only the big things will be remembered like that big family trip to Disney. I've been there. But what I treasure from that trip most of all was watching the sun come up on the beach with my beautiful Mom.
The most important people in your life notice you weather they mention it or not, and even if you impact one person, it trickles down the generations after you.

Don't be shy! Please share with me, three little things you want to do today, for your family, or someone you care about...this can even be a habit to make or break...three little actions always count.

Earlier this New Years Eve we had huge gusts of wind and RMNP even closed! So we moved to plan B. Lily Lake, because there was something wildly special about that date, and she would soon find out why!

Kal and Lexi are such kind people, they just care. I was able to send a sneak peek the day after their session so they could share the exciting news! And then we had to make an unexpected trip out of state to care for a family member in need. They gave me as much time as I needed. It just means so much to me. I couldn't thank them enough. Kal and Lexi I wish you all the best!
