One of the joys of working with our non-profit is that I get to tell stories about my talented sister. We produced a Solarplate Printing demo during the pandemic, and just didn't have the time to finish it until this year. The programs will be posted on our website at goldenroadarts.org soon, but until then, you can persuse the stills from the programs at Bookcreator. It is in three logical parts: 1) Creating the image; 2) Exposing the Plates; and 3) Printing the plates. For those of you who think printmaking uses dangerous materials, the Solarplate process is entirely waterbased (although you can use traditional oil based inks in the process). Clean up is with soap, water and baby oil.

These are still images from a three-part video by educator, artist & printmaker Barbara Mason of Golden Road Arts. Her purpose is to explain solar plate printmaking for those wanting more info.

Just a thought for today – when art is less a norm than it used to be.

This was a lot of fun, and the pictures bear that out. More images to follow.

This might be one of the best photos David Leonnig has ever taken at a jazz event. This is Banu Gibson, who turned toward the camera at just the right time. The photo is certainly honest to the spirit of the Prescott Jazz Summit. There's a bunch more music to hear tonight and tomorrow all day long. Only the brunch is a sellout. Facebook wants to monetize our stuff and won't let you see this. But providing the opportunity for young children to paint boards and paing and glue rocks together – outdoors and in a park – benefits children who come to our art lessons each week this summer! Please send this along to people who might bring their kiddos to Rood Bridge Park tomorrow, July 22, at 12:15 for the next book, Art & Max! We'll save you a stool at the table to make spinner art!
