Have a backup plan for weather. Every single time.

September weddings are summer weddings wearing a light jacket. Gorgeous, but the weather does whatever it wants. The couples who stress the least on their day are the ones who picked a venue with a solid indoor option before they ever needed it.

You are not jinxing anything by planning for rain. You are buying yourself the ability to not panic if the forecast turns. Rain on a wedding day is only a disaster if nobody planned for it.

Happy Labor Day. Enjoy the day off, then go check your venue's rain plan.

Save this for when you build your timeline.

Nobody choreographs this part.

It happens somewhere between the ceremony ending and the reception starting. The room clears out, and for about ninety seconds it is just the two of you, still catching up to the fact that it actually happened. You are married.

That is the frame I am always watching for. Not the posed one. The one where you both exhale at the same time.

Everyone else missed it because they were already walking to cocktail hour. I was not.

Fall dates are the ones that go first.

If you are getting married in 2026 and you have been putting off booking a photographer, this is your sign. September and October weekends book out before spring even starts thinking about it. The couples planning right now are the ones locking in the good vendors.

I am currently booking 2026 and into 2027. If you have been quietly circling my work for a while, let us actually talk. A quick call, no pressure, just to see if we are a fit.

Stop asking your photographer to make you pose.

The best frames from any wedding are the ones nobody set up. No walking toward me again but slower. No forced laughing. Just two people who forgot the camera was there for about four seconds.

That is documentary work, and it is the difference between photos that look like a catalog and photos that look like your actual life. You cannot fake this one. You can only stay out of the way and catch it.

If posed sessions have always felt stiff and awkward to you, there is a reason. You were never the problem.

It is me and Megan. We run this whole thing as a team.

Which sounds romantic until you remember we also have to agree on where to eat afterward. She second shoots, keeps the timeline honest, and catches the moments I am physically not standing in the right place to catch. Two photographers, one wedding, nothing missed.

We started this because our own wedding photos let us down, and we decided no other couple should feel that way. Seven years later, that is still the entire point.

So when you book us, you get both of us. The calm one, and the one who actually remembers the details.

Quick heads up for anyone getting married this month.

Sunset is creeping earlier every day right now. A ceremony time that gave you plenty of daylight in June will have you finishing photos in the dark by late September.

Here is the fix. Check the actual sunset time for your date, then back your couple portraits up to about 30 minutes before it. That is your golden window. Miss it and those warm dreamy photos quietly turn into flash photos.

Build the timeline around the light, not the other way around. That part is my job, and I will flag it before you lock anything in.

Save this for when you build your timeline.

September is where fall weddings get real.

If you are planning a 2026 wedding, the calendar is already moving. Peak fall dates book out first, and the couples locking in vendors right now are the ones who will not be scrambling next summer.

I am booking 2026 and into 2027, weddings and intimate collections both. If my work keeps showing up on your feed for a reason, that is usually the sign. Let us have a quick call and see if we fit.

Ten years from now, this is the one you will stop on.

Not the big posed group shot. This one. The quiet one where you can almost hear what the day sounded like. That is the difference between photos that document a wedding and photos that hold onto a feeling.

Your day is going to move fast. My whole job is making sure the parts that mattered do not disappear with it.

This is the whole job in one frame.

Not the pose. The half second after it, when they forget I am there and just look at each other like nobody else is around. You cannot direct that into existence. You can only stay close, stay quiet, and be ready when it happens.

That is what documentary-leaning coverage actually means. Less telling you what to do, more catching who you already are.

Slow down. This day goes so fast.

Every couple tells me the exact same thing after their wedding. It went by in a blur. That is precisely why I shoot the way I do. Cinematic, unhurried, catching the quiet in between moments alongside the big ones, so you can go back and actually feel the day again instead of just remembering that it happened.
